If Queue's are any guide then try Mama D's - great food and great service. They don't take reservations BTW - Mama D's: "Where The California Climate Is Useful" - Los Angeles Restaurant Tip by johngayton

Uggghhh...NOT Mama D's please, John. That's like Chef Boyardee...

I highly recommend Ado in Santa Monica (not Ago). Via Veneto is pretty good through pricey.

I guess it depends on what you mean by Italian....do you mean garlic rolls and spaghetti with meat balls? Or something more authentic and higher quality?

I liked Mama D's - but then one doesn't expect Italy in California LOL

L.A. is full of great Italian restaurants. Many world class with prices to match! I would say the top choices would be one of the Drago restaurants, or Valentino's.

However, my favorite is Da Pasquale in Beverly Hills. It is a small family owned neighborhood restaurant that is not at all snooty. (yelp.com/biz/da-pasquale-res...
