We booked an hotel in Kiev through the internet site "booking.com" for 1 night (October 2013) and had arranged transfer with the hotel before.
We were picked up at the airport by the driver (was not speaking English) who was showing a large paper with my name. Then we were driven to the hotel, but not the one which is presented at the internet site "Booking.com" as the hotel we had booked. We see that the pictures of the hotel on Booking.com website are different from the hotel that we stayed.
The thing is that we arrived by night in Kiev airport, so we arrived at hotel by night and on the next morning we left early, it was still dark. So during our way to and from the hotel and during our stay we didn't really noticed that we were at the wrong place.
At our arrival at the hotel, there was just a woman at the reception who didn't speak English. There I paid the nght and 2 transfers with my credit card, being exactly the amount I would have been charged for the hotel I booked through the booking.com site. This woman made a call to a person speaking english by mobile phone for arranging the time for the transfer to airport next day.
What happened finally we were charged twice by credit card, once for the night at the "wrong" hotel and once at the right one reserved by booking.com site for having reserved and not having appeared.
How is it possible we reserved an Hotel and we are driven to another hotel?
Is this a common thing happening in Ukraine?
