Any comments on the Holiday Inn in the Downtown Area?

Hello there Was hoping for some local advice as to the immediate area around the Holiday Inn Hotel in the downtown area, is it dangerous in the daytime? We plan to visit Long Beach in Jan and there is such a fight in the family as a whole group of us are making the trip. Any local information or comments would be very helpful. Thanks for your time!
