Long Beach or Redondo Beach?

I will be moving to Southern California in May and will be working in Torrance. I know that Redondo Beach is closer to Torrance than Long Beach, however, which city would you suggest living in? (safety, food, apartments, etc). What are the advantages of either? I've never been out there before but will visit the first week in February. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I have nothing bad to say about either place but If I moved to either one I would live as close to the beach as you can afford. Thats where its the cleanest & have most things to do as far as recreation, dinning and nightlife.
