by papito1981 Online Now May 8, 2012 at 10:03 AM

Hi everybody, I'm landing in GTW airport this coming friday (11th) at noon and I've to go to Southampton. What do you suggest? Train or other? Which is the quickest and cheapest way to do it? thanks, Marco

Two possibilities: Train: www.nationalrail.co.uk There are some direct trains (taking 1h 50m). You might be able to catch the 1309 at 14.90GBP one-way. If not, the next direct train is 1409. There are other departures in between, but they involve changes. Coach (long-distance bus): nationalexpress.com/home.asp... 2hrs 40 min, 19.40 one-way. You should be able to catch the 1340 departure. I'd go for the direct train.

I took the coach from the airport to Southampton and it worked well. The busstation is at the ground floor of the airport. If you are confident that you make a certain bus, you can get your ticket online from the bus' website.

If you can then buy your rail ticket now on Southern Railway web. An advance ticket is £6.60 using the 1.09 pm service that takes 1 hour 50 mins with no changes.Pick up your ticket at Gatwick Station using the ticket machine or go to the window. http://www.southernrailway.com/
