Does anybody know of any good but reasonably priced open top bus tours round london? Thanks
There's a unique service run by the Big Bus Company, where you can get on and off along the route for photos, browsing and even for lunch or snacks. Check out my London pages - things to do.

Hi - we also took the Big Bus Tour. It was a good way to see the city and enabled us to decide where we wanted to re-visit. If you got off anywhere for too long, it didn't leave much time to complete the bus route. After the tour, we traveled mostly by underground.

These can be very expensive. They vary depending on whether the buses are wired with a taped commentary, whether it is multi-lingual. Or maybe they have a tour guide giving a commentary. I did meet one guide who told me how depressing it can be to give a commentary when stuck in a traffic jam and it is raining and it is clear that most of tourists hardly understand a word of what he was saying. The best thing about these tours is you can just switch off and take photos for a couple of hours. Most of the attractions take at least a couple of hours to visit, so there is a limit to the amount of hopping on an hopping off you can do in a day. If you can live without the open top element, it is perfectly possible to organise your own tour using a bus pass and regular bus services. Some of the routes use the old fashioned Routemaster buses with the running board at the back (how we miss those buses.)
