To tell you the truth between 2004 and 2008, the only real differences I noticed was increased police and army presence after Gnassingbe senior died. During 4 years it was still the same corruption all over. That's not to say I didn't love the place, I did and still do.

Yes Paul, that old dictator ran Togo for almost 40 years. I wondered at the time of his demise, what would happen if his son tried a takeover. We all know how that went, eh? Still I have always loved the country along with Benin and Ghana. I have had some "adventures" in those three countries. Nothing like a good football match in the region.....d:o)

Yup, I learnt very early to stay away from mobs in African football stadiums, one goal either way and it can turn into a riot, much as I love football. It seems to have calmed down a bit though since Juniors takeover, from what friends tell me although they do tell me a lot of ex-pats have moved out, mainly to Benin.
