Was looking for a hotel for at least 3 nights in Lisbon at the end of May. I noticed the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon on line and looked quite nice. However it looked like it may be away from the sights. Don't mind walking or taking local transportation. Maybe there are others closer to the action (sights).
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them. In the area of 150 E per night would be good.. That's around 200$ Canadian.
Coming to Portugal for a couple of weeks in May/June and will be landing in Lisbon. Is Sintra worth a day visit or longer? Will have a rental when we head south but did not want to rent one in Lisbon.

Going to study at University of Lisbon later this year, and trying to figure out where to live. Does anyone know the area of Cidade Universitaria? Is it a nice area to live? Or, are there other other neighborhoods that are not far from the university (walking distance or short commute) that are preferable?
I am planning a budget trip to Lisbon late august into september. I am an hobby-ist painter and would like to try and join a painting class or workshop for starting painters. Have surfed the net for information, and most workshops I found are expensive and all inclusive vacations. Is there an art school or some kind of center that has like summer classes or introduction classes for locals, and where foreigners would be welcome to join? I paint with water colours and acrylic colors but would appreciate some insight into using other mediums like charcoal, crayons, chalk. Since I do not read portuguese well, it is hard to search effectively.

Hi, I'm visiting Lisbon tomorrow, is there anyone who wants to show me around a bit? Not looking for a touristic tour or anything, just to visit some nice places and nice people and have a bite and some drinks :)
I have a car available and will stay in the Lost Inn Hostel. I'm very passionate about cooking and restaurants so if you feel like going out for a nice dinner I would totally be up for that. I can't afford to pay for everything but a couple of drinks will definitely be on me! I'll be there around 17:00/18:00 local time :)
About myself: 28, Netherlands, working man, visiting a friend near Faro for a couple of days.
Let me know if you feel like it!
I am a black female looking to travel to Lisbon alone. Would you say it is safe for me to do so??
I last visited Lisbon over 30 years ago so it would have changed dramatically.

2. I am looking for a decent three star hotel, comfortable but as we will be out and about all the time a clean hotel for sleeping. Can you recommend a reasonably priced one that enable my wife and I to get around.

Is either of the above hotels anywhere near the Altis Grand? I think the first one was recently renamed the Intercontinental but I don't know what it was called before that.

What is the best way to get to the Algarve from Lisbon?
Once again, my phobia is interfering with my travel planning. :(
Yes, I know cockroaches can't directly hurt me but there's no talking me out of my fear. I wish there was!
So I'm asking you this:
Are cockroaches a problem everywhere around Portugal or primarily in The Algarve?
Are they inside cockroaches, outside ("palmetto bugs") or both? Are they only outside in some places like The Algarve?
Thank you so much. I'm planning our honeymoon for late January 2015 and don't want it to be ruined by my stressing out over the presence of bugs!
I would like to see some sights in southern Spain that I missed on a previous trip, ie Granada, Gibraltar, Tangiers.
Is there any reliable train connections between Southern Portugal and Spain, or is rent a car the only option?
Hello. Curious about the Santa Justa elevator - exactly where do you enter? Is there a particular time to go to avoid a line? Will the fact that we're there on the Feast of Assumption mean it might be more crowded than usual? I've heard it may be possible to get on it up top and ride down from near the Carmo Convent rather than just up. Is this true? Would I be able to avoid a long line if I do that? Thanks for any help you can give me. I will have a 24 hour ticket that I will be using, but if the line is too terribly long I may just bag the whole idea of riding it. I know there is at least one miradouro that shows a similar view, but the Santa Justa elevator looks interesting for photography since it's so close to Carmo Convent. (Just how long does it take for a line to disappear and a person to get on the elevator, anyway? Can anyone venture a guess? How many people can it hold at a time, and how many people might be waiting on a weekend or holiday day in August, other than "a lot"?!)
Hi, myself and some of my girlfriends are planning on coming to Lisbon in February for my 30th. I'm not sure where to stay, though - I've found a really nice apartment in Bairro Alto but I'm very put off by the noise I've been reading about - we want to go out and enjoy ourselves in the evenings, but I like peace and quiet at night when I'm sleeping! Where would you recommend we stay? Baixa? Somewhere else? Or is the noise overrated?
I would like to know as I will be in Lisbon for 1 week, if the Colinas card is my best option, I will be hoping to use most of the transport that is available. I just wanted to know if I can put the 7 days on the card at the beginning so it is more convenient for checking through scanners etc or is there a better travel pass for this. I have read about a zapping system but I am not quite sure how it works?, do I have to keep checking this in case it has run out of money?, would not want to be stuck while traveling this way. Any help would be much appreciated.
