I will drive from lisbon and arrive at Sergovia same day. Is there any interesting place where I can spend several hours for rest and sight seeing. Thanks
Hello, I'd suggest 2 places, one in Portugal the other in Spain. All places are within the route. In Portugal: Stop in Belmonte or Guarda, both are lovely. Belmonte is a smaller village with a jewish background and lovely architecture. Guarda is a city, the capital of this district, but its historical centre is small and quick to visit. Neverthless, it is small but so charming! Maybe Guarda will be easier to find restaurants, fuel or whatever you need for your trip. In Spain: Salamanca. It is very beautiful, a couple of hours are not enough to visit, but you get an idea. Start by its Plaza Mayor. If you leave Lisbon early, and since it is more than 600 km to Segovia, why not a stop in Belmonte and another in Salamanca? Don't forget that: Spain is 1hour later than Portugal and typically gas is cheaper in Spain than it is in Portugal but concerning diesel the difference usually isn't as signicant as in the case of gas. Have fun in Lisbon and Segovia, both are beautiful citites. Alexandra

Yes, Leon is very nice but north of Segovia, that would be a bigger detour. Alexandra

Yes, Both Salamanca and Guarda, but there are more. Fundão, Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Castelo Novo if you go by route A23. But you can go by route A1 to Aveiro (the city similar to Veneza) and then enter the route A25. There are lots of options.
