Hi all. We will be visiting a cousin of mine and also to see my late mother's sister (who both live in Stamford), neither of whom I have seen for many years and as this will be our main holiday next year we want to make it special so do not mind the expense if the accommodation is good enough. Bearing this in mind, do any of you knowing of high quality self catering cottages/lodges or 4 star and above hotels in the Stamford area? We will be staying there sometime after April 2010 for one or two weeks and will be driving from South Wales. Many thanks.
I am going on holiday this May to Lincoln staying at a friends house, and I have thought of going for a couple of days to Edinburgh. I have searched on how to get to Edinburgh but the only route I have found is, to travel to Manchester, and then to Edinburgh. I will be hiring a car, but prefer to go via train. What do think, is Manchester the only route? Also welcomed are ideas of cities or places to visit near Lincoln. Thanks.
I thought I'd try the Travel Forum from the point of view of a questioner, rather than an answerer! I'm planning to spend a couple of days at the end of this week to visit the village in southern Lincolnshire where my surname originated. While I'm up there, it would be nice to stop somewhere for a bit of indulgent sightseeing. At most, I could probably spend a couple of hours each at two locations, or maybe half day at one. Any suggestions for good places to stop? Lincoln is an obvious option which I'm not ruling out, but I know it is quite far north in the county. As a second question, does anyone know of any nice B&B's for a Friday night, or locations with a good choice of options?
Does anyone know if the rebuild work has been started on The Dunes pub & arcade? We come to Skeggy every year & used it regulary but we were gutted when we saw the devistation after the fire.We are going to buy a caravan in 2008 so we are hoping it will be back ,better than before. Also has any work been done on skeggys prom after the august fire? many thanks.
can anyone tell me of any genuinely old (such as 16, 17th century) but reasonably priced antique bookshops that are within a 3-4 hour drive of Lincolnshire? Actually, any in the whole of England would be ok. My budget would be about £100 for a good condition book up to the mid 1600s. Thanks for any help supercarys

I am going to Lincoln on an exchange in September and I wanted to know a little about the area. Are there any interesting historical sites around? Would you suggest hiring a car to drive around Scotland/Wales/general area? Is it relatively easy to get a job there - I'm looking for part time work (bloody Australian dollar being 40p) something in the retail industry, probably. I can get a british passport too as my mother was born in the UK, would anyone advise getting the British one instead of using my Aussie one?
Where can I hire bicycles in the Boston area? We're looking for something similar to the lovely old fat tire cruisers we ride at home. Have toured on a sleeker model, but that was years ago, when - alas - I was sleeker as well. Any suggestions? We're planning a week or so in late April.
