      Christchurch Apr 19, 2013 at 10:42 AM

There used to be an American themed one with a jukebox but I dunno if that exists anymore. Can you recommend a decent cafe that isn't too expensive? Many thanks.

Are there any day passes for trains?

      England 1 hours ago

Apart from the BritRail passes, are there any day passes for trains in England? Or is a full ticket from A to B valid for the whole day, so that I can get off and back on as long I don't go back?
I'm thinking of going from London to the Cotswolds and would like to revisit Oxford on the way, just spend a few hours there before catching another train to Moreton-in-Marsh.
      Thank you for your help.

Good accomodation in the Lake District

Lake District National Park May 7, 2013 at 3:01 PM

      Hi everyone,

I will be visiting the lake district with my family for about three nights at the start of June (We have a 3 year old and an 8 month old)

Can anyone recommend some excellent accomodation near any of the lakes? We visited Bowness-on-Windermere briefly last year and were enchanted.

Budget is a consideration & self catering is fine, but our main desires are cleanliness, scenery and hopefully the likes of a rustic log fire!

      Thanks for your help folks.

      Greg.

      London to Marlow

      London May 14, 2013 at 3:49 AM

I am planning on travelling from St:Paul's tube station to Marlow. The national rail is advising me to reach Paddington by tube, and continue the journey by train via Maidenhead. The trouble I am facing is that the train changes are rather closely placed (5 min!). Would it be safe then to buy a anytime day return ticket from PAD to Marlow (and use Oyster for the tube leg)? Does it make sense to book it in advance (which means I have collect it in the PAD station)? What about bus services?; Google maps are providing me a few suggestions, but appear to be a slower option. Comments greatly appreciated!

Where to stay near Ascot, Berkshire

      Hi
My boyfriend has a business meeting in Ascot next month and I was planning to tag along. The plan is to travel down from our home in Yorkshire on Sunday and return on Tuesday afternoon (his meeting is on Monday), Where would be the best place to base ourselves? Is Ascot nice or would we be better suited to somewhere like Windsor. I need you advice as I am unfamiliar with the area. We will be travelling by car, we like to experience a little luxury when we go away, but we are by no means 'loaded'.
      Looking forward to your guidance

      Meadowhall Park and Ride

      Sheffield Apr 20, 2013 at 6:33 AM

I am hoping to use the park & ride and catch the tram to the Don Valley stadium - but it is not clear what the cost will be. I would really appreciate if someone can clarify this. The tram site says it is £3 return or I could get a day travel ticket for £4.00. Another site says the fare is £4.50 and I have to purchase the ticket from a machine in the car park? There was also something about a family travelcard for £6.50 - can 2 adults travel on this without children in the family?
Also one person travelling with us has a UK concessionary travel pass - is this valid from the park and ride for free travel?
Thanks in advance for any information.

      Visiting Stamford next year.

      Lincolnshire Dec 8, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Hi all. We will be visiting a cousin of mine and also to see my late mother's sister (who both live in Stamford), neither of whom I have seen for many years and as this will be our main holiday next year we want to make it special so do not mind the expense if the accommodation is good enough. Bearing this in mind, do any of you knowing of high quality self catering cottages/lodges or 4 star and above hotels in the Stamford area? We will be staying there sometime after April 2010 for one or two weeks and will be driving from South Wales. Many thanks.

What do think, is Manchester the only route? Also welcomed are ideas of cities or places to visit near Lincoln. Thanks.

      Couple of Days in Lincs

      Lincolnshire Jun 29, 2008 at 4:15 AM

I thought I'd try the Travel Forum from the point of view of a questioner, rather than an answerer! I'm planning to spend a couple of days at the end of this week to visit the village in southern Lincolnshire where my surname originated. While I'm up there, it would be nice to stop somewhere for a bit of indulgent sightseeing. At most, I could probably spend a couple of hours each at two locations, or maybe half day at one. Any suggestions for good places to stop? Lincoln is an obvious option which I'm not ruling out, but I know it is quite far north in the county. As a second question, does anyone know of any nice B&B's for a Friday night, or locations with a good choice of options?
