Hello, My name is Lee. My wife and some friends will visit your lovely island country on Sunday December 6, 2009. Like so many who visit your country we will be arriving by ship in Limassol and only be there about 7 hours. I love wine! That is why I am so excited about our visit. Cypriots have been producing the wonderful Commanderia wine since 800 BC, maybe longer. I lived 50 years of my 62 in California and grew up appreciating the blessing of wine. I will hire Cyprus Chaufeur for 4 hours to take us to some of the important wine related places near Limassol. I have been in contact with Sophocles Vlassides and I am waiting for a reply to see if he can schedule a visit with us while we are there. I am having trouble finding his village on a map. Do you know where his family vineyard is located and how long it will take to drive there from Limassol? We are also very interested in visiting one of the 14 villages which produce Commanderia wine. This would mean a trip to the Troodos mountains. If we drive to Domaine Vlassides and meet with Sophocles for an hour will we still have time to get to the Comanderia region, visit a winery and make it back to the wine museum in 4 hours? I also wonder if we should expect to pay for our wine tastings at the wineries? In Napa Valley, Calif. we often can taste some wine for free and have to pay to taste "the good stuff", while in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains the tastings are almost always free. There is wine for sale at the wineries but you do not "have" to buy them. Can you explain the customs on Cyprus? I thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Lee
My fiancée and I are regular visitors to Limassol and are thinking of getting married there. Specifically, we are thinking of The Carob Mill complex. I understand the castle there can hold weddings - does anyone if this is true ? We were then thinking of using Karatello restaurant (in the carob mill complex) for the reception as it seems a beautiful location. I notice they have a large function room next to the main restaurant. Has anyone seen a wedding reception there or does anyone know if this is possible ? Any assistance would be very welcomed as we are going out to limassol to see potential venues in late February.
We will be on a cruise ship next April that stops in Cyprus. We are interested in a private day tour for Limassol-does anyone know of any? Thanks!

Hi I am travelling to Limassol for a wedding at the end of May in a party of four. We are hoping to find a suitable apartment/villa to stay at for one week which is reasonably close to the lively limassol nightlife and, if possible, not too far from where the wedding will take place (Four Seasons Hotel). If anyone could suggest an appropriate area/district to look in that would be most helpful.
Hey everyone, I will be visiting limassol for a business meeting around 1-2 December and i was thinking of taking 3-4 December off as a small vacation... Can anyone help me see if it is worth it by guiding me on the things i can do at such time of the year! (no sun - no beach - little nightlife...) Otherwise, is there a casino? opera house? concert at that time? or anything worthwhile :P Awaiting your prompt reply, Anthony
We are going to be in Limassol on a cruise next May for only @ 7 hrs. I had wanted to go to Troodos region to see painted churches but advised it's a holiday and price was ridiculous as well as time constraints. I've heard there might be some beautiful painted churches in Limassol to see but don't know the names of any. I see paintings on some real estate sites of churches supposedly in Limassol but can't get response to names. Thinking may not want to do museum/castle thing since we will be doing that in Greece, Italy, etc. Would love any thoughts on things to do if walking around Limassol - any Byzantine era paintings in small churches, etc.? If someone thinks there is something really worth seeing, please let me know. Not getting much help from Cyprus Tourism Office & guides are quoting me ridiculous prices like600 USD for 4 hrs. of driving around, since it's a holiday. Any thoughts for walking/Limassol?
