Hostel Comparison!

Has anyone stayed in either Pension Jose Luis or Explorer's House? The price range is about the same so I'm trying to decide between them. Being a single female traveller, I'm most especially concerned with security and cleanliness but any tips would be helpful (location, noise-level, hospitality, food quality/quantity, etc.).
