My aunt has some time between trains at Lille and wants to explore the town. Is there a left-luggage service at either of the stations?

Am I correct in saying the last train to Lille in the evening leaves Lens at 19.44 ? I need to depart Lens at about 21.30 after a football game. Are there any alternatives apart from a taxi or staying overnight ?

My son is travelling by train from Paris, then needs to get himself to Kemmel. I cannot see any public transport that would take him anywhere near there. It has been suggested that he travels to Ieper changing in Brussels, but that is a 3.5 hour journey and still has a 20 minute taxi ride at the end. What suggestions does anyone have to get him to Kemmel please? Does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable & safe taxi company we could pre-book? Any thoughts how much this will cost please? He is too young to drive & the transfer must be safe & quick. Thank you.

Hi! I will be an Erasmus student in Lille and I'm arranging my travel from Brussels to Lille. Because of a late flight to Brussels(arriving at 19;30), I estimated that I can reach Lille around midnight on Sunday with Eurolines bus. I am wondering where do these buses usually stop in Lille and if there is a public transport in this hour? If not, do you know how much a taxi will cost from the bus station to the hall of residence of USTL? My other variant is to take a really early flight to Charleroi(arr. 8:10) and then probably a train or bus. Hello, My wife and I are planning to visit Lille for a long weekend at the end of this month - October 2008. I've got a broad sketch of what we're going to get up to, but I'd hate to miss out on anything good that may be happening in Lille that weekend. My - broad - plan is : Friday - shop, site see, eat out in the evening Saturday - possibly take the tourist office's English language walking tour of the town, or failing that more shopping, then in the evening there's some tango dancing to be done - I guess food has to come into the equation somewhere Sunday - the Wazemmes market, and possibly a wander around the citadel gardens, before heading home Is there anything that I'm missing ? If you had 4.5 days in Belgium and 8 days in Paris, with 1 day to spend where ever you wanted. Would you A. Spend it in Lille, B. Add it to Paris or C. Add it to Belgium (we are going to Brussels, Brugge, and Ghent)??? What is Lille like? I read about it in Fodors, but it doesn't say too much except its a small town and there is a big mall type thing to shop in. Is this town worth stopping in?

Hi Folks, I'm taking my mum to Lille on Wednesday and although I've stopped off here a couple of times in recent years I can't remember too much about the place. I seem to remember last time that there was a bus tour of available, now does this still run? and this time of year? walking tour would be great - but given it's my mum, I figure a bus would be better, age and all that ;-) Plus, if anyone has any suggestions for a nice restaurant for lunch, that would be cool :-) Cheers Jules

My Wife & I will visit Lille in April 2008. We wish to hire a car and visit the war Cemetary wher my GGrandfather was buried in 1917 and were looking a renting a car for the day. Average prices on the net seem to be 100 euro for a day which is extreme by Aussie standards. Is this normal or are their cheaper options available? any advice would be appreciated. cheers Mike
