hi, im going to lille in 2 weeks time for the weekend and i would love to visit citadel. Does anyone know how to get there frm Eurostar station and how long does it take to get there? Thanks.
This is the Lille bus and metro map transpole.fr/upload/Lille.pd... You can clearly see the Citadel at the top of the map and the Lille Europe Eurostar station also. It is just over 1km to walk or you can take a bus C2 for example from Lille Europe to Jardin Vauban. The bus runs about every 15 minutes. The Lille city metro, tram and bus website is www.transpole.fr

If you go through all the little streets on the way, then you will get a good idea of Lille itself. Btw, you do know that you cannot visit within the Citadel? It is an 'active' military site. You can walk up the road to only so far and then that is it. However, there is a very nice park adjacent to the site.

oh, we cant go in. i thought we just need to register at the tourist office.

I don't know anything about registering at the tourist office. All I know is that when we were there, there was no entry - barriers, and guards and dogs and so on. Official personnel only.
