Are there any villages to walk to or thnigs to do near the resorts. If so, which resorts. We don't want to be confined to a resort or have to purchase tours for every off resort time we spend.
You list your question under "Liberia" but really that city is quite a distance from the beach resorts of Guanacaste- a good 30-60 minute drive (maybe more since roads are not that good) depending on what resort we're talking about. And out in that area there are no villages of any size to speak about, it's quite rural. So in many cases the resort will be about the only sign of 'civilization' you will see.

Liberia is in Guanacaste Province and two more adventurous cantons are also in this province which are Nicoya and Santa Cruz. One can easily enjoy the rich biodiversity offered by these areas apart from Liberia.
