Tibet for Vegetarians...

by Mark0820 Online Now May 10, 2011 at 11:58 PM

Hi all, I'd like to take my 67 year old father to Lhasa and surrounding area (perhaps even up to the Everest Base Camp). Will we have any problems finding food to satiate his vegetarian diet? Mark Vancouver B.C.

I wouldn't think so. Tibet has a lot of Buddhists but due to the harsh climate some do eat some meat, probably because if they didn't they would starve. I haven't been there but I would expect your dad would be OK.

Hi Mark, It will be no problem to find vegetarian food in Tibet, and your I think your Tibetan guide will be assist you to find some reliable vegetarian restaurants. But the elevation of Mt. everest Base Camp will be 5200m, I suggest you consult your doctor before you leave Vancouver. And you should make good preparations for avoid the high altitude sickness. ---------- Murphy from Chengdu Windhorse Tour.
