Lignon Hills, Japanese Tunnel and Cagsawa Ruins With Backpacks

by wabufamy Online Now May 14, 2012 at 4:02 AM

We'll be backpacking to Legaspi City on our way to Donsol, and want to see Lignon Hills, the Japanese Tunnel and Cagsawa Ruins. Our accommodation is in Donsol, so we'll be bringing our backpacks around. I've heard there's a ride to Lignon Hills, but I'm not sure how far we need to walk from the trike or taxi to the tunnel and the ruins. Me and my companions are not that strong, so I have doubts if we can go around with our backpacks all the time. I want to know how far do we need to walk to get to the site. Thanks.

Lignon hill is around a 30 minute strenuous climb, but it is well worth it especially if you get up there for sunrise to see the wonderful view of Mayon. It is also worth the efrot in the evening for sundown to see the wonderful view of the city. The zipline is a reasonable price. Cagsawa ruins (2kms from Daraga) are 500m from the road but a trike can reach there if u dont feel like walking.

The Japanese tunnel is right at the entrance post at lignon hill, the last time we went there visitors are only allowed just a few feet from the tunnel entrance and they sometimes let them exit on a small dung hole (LOL) so i guess with your backpacks you have to exit from the entrance. Nonetheless, the hike to lignon is quite worth it. Enjoy!

I'd been there last January 2012. I think you will make it. In Lignon Hill, You have to walk atleast 5 mins to top of the Hills. Then for the Cagsawa Ruins, It will take at least 3 mins from the road. Hope you enjoy your stay in Bicol Region. Have Fun!
