Digital photo kiosks for public use - or suggests how to handle this situation

by karousel35 Online Now Aug 18, 2007 at 4:33 AM

Our trip to France is coming up fast and we are trying to keep from purchasing too many extra memory cards for our digital cameras. Does anyone know in the Normandie area if there are digital photo kiosks available for public use? We would like to every day or so go in an download our photos and have them put onto CD's for easy transport home. Thank you for your time - Karousel35 (Lois)

france-supermarche.info/haut... is a link to supermarkets in the Seine-Maritime. havre-achat.com/annuaire.php... is a list of the same in Le Havre. You'll usually find these on the outskirts of a town, in a socalled Parc Exposition area (that's not a park but an industrial area). If you're renting a car, they also offer cheap petrol.

We've just come back from 2 months in Europe (parts Spain, France and Italy) and in hindsight I would have preferred to have had more memory space for photos rather than having to go and find somewhere I could download onto CD. Smaller places you may have a problem finding somewhere - suggest you buy extra memory cards. I have an old digital camera and my capacity is about 220 photos (3 memory sticks) on highest resolution and finding sticks for my camera is getting hard as the technology has moved on. Cost was around 4-5 Euro per store to load onto CD. Although with about 1500 photos to sort through, I'm almost glad I didnt buy extra memory - LOL.

karousel can always change her mind when in France. Because the large supermarkets we pointed her to, also sell memory cards.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Thank you sooooo much for all of your help and advise! I am a HUGE amateur photographer - I can easily fill up a 1 gig memory card (thankfully I have 5 other memory cards at my disposal)! We are lucky enough to be able to have 3 weeks in Normandie - Le Havre area and I plan on taking pictures of absolutely everything! Again ... Thank you. Happy Safe travels to all! karousel35 - Lois
