Visiting in September

by JanatKings Online Now Apr 7, 2008 at 9:50 AM

We are in Cap d'Agde for a week from 1 September this year and one of our number is a real sun-lover and is hoping for a tan. What is the weather like at that time of the year? Also, we want to visit Agde itself, Beziers and Montpellier while we are there. Will we need a car or can we get to all of them on public transport?

Normally the weather is very nice in September, and after the end of the school holidays it is nice and quiet, the water warm.

If you do not have to hurry your visits - and I do not suppose that will be the case as you have a whole week at Cap d'Agde - you can make your trips by public transport. Inside the towns/cities transport is no problem either. Especially Montpellier is fabulous with its very efficient tramway.

However, driving yourself to places by car is also nice, as you can discover and explore more remote places, and stop wherever you want.

Agde is on the same railway line as Beziers and Montpellier; you can view the current timetable at ter-sncf.com/Images/PERPIGNA...

However the town and station at Agde is about 3 miles from Cap d'Agde. There are local buses and you can find the information at

However the route map shows that bus 274 runs between Agde, Cap d'Agde and Marseillan but as it not shown in the current timetable list I suspect it runs only in summer.

I am in the general area in June and hoping it will be warm then too!

Hi guys, we too are arriving that first week in September, 3rd. We are on our second September visit there, we came last year and enjoyed it all so much this time we are back for 2 weeks. We actually got there about the 10th last year and the beaches were still very packed, very hot and had some great days in the sun. Travel wise we weren't that impressed with, I think we missed the summer transport links and had to walk from the resort to Agde which was a very pleasant walk, we made friends with a couple and they had a car, which for the supermarket runs was fantastic, and we brought away a great friendship ;0) We on an overcast day drove down to Spain, which seems to be a duty free trip worth making. We have even opted for the same apartment, we got very lucky, we heard that there are some dated apartment decors, our one had a power remote wall mount and LCD TV all mod cons and very well kept. A large bed and a settee pull out double, kitchen, bathroom and air con with a balcony all for E600 for 14 nights. As for the night life..brill and fun and an eye opener... Have a great time and see you there!
