Is there a venue that offers a good meal, followed by a dance floor for the older traveller, hip but dont want a rave frenzy
do italian hotels use round 2-pin plugs or round 3-pin ones?
Does anyone know of a local historian In Cassino?
What is the best way to get around in Rome? If we take a cab anywhere, is it easy to find one? What would the rates be comparable to? Thank you! This is our first time to Europe (Rome, Paris, and London) and we are a little unsure about transportation. Any other suggestions are also helpful!
Coming this Sunday from North Italy by car for visiting Cappella Sistina I have been adviced to park either at Villaggio Olimpico or at Saxa Rubra from where it seems that I can get an easy transport to Città del Vaticano. I have not found any trustfull information in Internet. My idea is to leave my car in a safe parking and then to go by public transport. In which of the two places can I catch bus or underground to reach, possibly directly, Città del Vaticano and is transport from there running easily on Sundays? Last question: can I pay my ticket directely on the bus should it be the only available transport? Thank you.
What is the Roman /Italian name for these carriages? eg "phaeton"
How is the public transportation or taxi availability in Rome during Christmas? Are there certain hours when the subway stops or taxi are hard to come by?
We are hoping to come to Rome IN Feb 2014 for a short break for our honeymoon (a mini moon as we got married abroad with friends and family in Sept).
Neither of us know a great deal about the city and we are a lttle lost about where to start looking for a hotel location wise and also the nghtlife side of things.
We are aged 35 and 42 and tend to like to eat somewhere nice then go to a few nice bars for a few drinks we dont really want nightclubs just nice trendy bars ideally close to a nice hotel. During the day we are hoping to see the main site but are only going to be here for 3 nights so might have to restrict what we do. We like to be out an about but obviously dont want to set ourselves a restrcitive time table we are just hoping for a nice city break for a few days without our two yong children..
Can anyone give me any advice re hotel location etc (or any other tips)....
I am arriving from New York (JFK) to Rome (Fiumicino) to catch a connecting flight to Palermo with 1 1/2 hour layover. Is this going to be enough time?
I was wondering whether Lago Albano is worth visiting over Christmas time? we are arriving on Christmas day (not ideal, I know) at FCO airport until 31st December. We have 6 days to spend in the area. We have been to Rome on a previous vacation and was hoping to explore the area outside of Rome. Any ideas would be most welcome. In this area of Lago Albano or other towns to visit in the area.
I will be looking to pick up two separate sets/collections of olive wood kitchen utensils as gifts and do not wish to pay a fortune.
Do any of the Flea Markets offer them for sale and which Flea Markets would give me the best opportunities for finding them? Also, would this be the best and least expensive way to acquire them? I will also be in Florence and Milan for a number of days if one knows of greater savings that would be available in those areas. We are talking about collecting 6-10 utensils per set; mix/match and of a fairly good quality. What type of prices would we be talking about?
Any help or advice would be appreciated; in advance, Thank you
I heard that, by law, foreigners should carry their passport. However, due to the risk of loss, people carry a copy of their passport, instead. How about carrying an international driver's license as an ID? Is it worth paying $15 to get it for the travel? I don't plan to drive while traveling. I am just concerned about the personal safety and theft, as a solo female traveller.
how far do I have to travel to the collisum from the residence dehon hotel in Lazio rome italy
Where can my wife and I get a bath, spa, massage in Rome?
We shall be visiting Civitavecchia on Dec 26th 2013 from a cruise ship.
We do not want to go to Rome. We cannot manage to walk long distances so are wondering if there is any reasonably priced transportation around C itself, such as a tour bus or otherwise can you give me an idea of the cost of taxis.
Also, bearing in mind that this is Boxing Day will there be any places open ?
I presume there will be no market. Will all other places such as museums and coffee shops also be closed ?
Many thanks for any help.
Sorry in my earlier post the airport we need to get to from the cruise port is Fumicino, many thanks for any advice
Have just learn that my flight home after my cruise has been changed back to 19.15 and have a prearranged and paid cab to the airport which will be when we are turfed off the ship at around 09.30. Am hearing that at the airport (long name beginning with C) it is particularly chaotic and to allow at least three hours there. Would I be best to abandon my transfer and try to use public transport and do they have any left luggage sites. Any ideas please as don't want to cut it too fine with the flight but don't also want to be at the airport for most of the day
does anyone remember a nightclub back in 1964 it was large and outdoors?
What is the average temperature in Rome in November?
IS there a Laundromat near the port? We are taking two cruises back to back and would like to wash clothes while in port.
As I read through the tips and discussions for getting ready for my upcoming trip to Italy, there is common theme about thieves and safety. What I am not sure is how concerned I should be about this?
Let me explain. I am a serious hobbyist and carry expensive camera gear in my backpack. I am not exactly young (late 50s) and not exactly tall or muscular (not a weakling either). In Rome and Florence, I am staying close to train station. One of the books said that crowd near Roma Termini at night can be little seedy. My question is how seedy? What is late??
If the thieves are not physically threatening people and only looking for opportunities when you are not looking and have carelessly placed your stuff on the side, that is one thing. I can deal with that by being careful about not being loose with my stuff.
If thieves would openly threaten you for what you have, then I have to consider twice before I take my expensive gear abroad which would be a shame. I would not want to miss on all great pictures I can take.
I do not want anyone from Italy to take offense on what I am asking as that is not my intention. Sorry if I sound silly asking this question. Appreciate any feedback.
ok so, I'm going to Rome in the last week of November for 4 nights and five days. I'd really like to have a day trip somewhere with great food and/or shopping. I'm not keen on public transport but i really do want to experience other parts of Italy! Also any tips on buying tickets for the Colosseum, places to eat, shop and stay would be highly appreciated! (Ive got a £290 budget for the hotel for two of us)
What do you think Rome is a romantic place or more turistic?Would you like to have your wedding travel to Rome?
Hi, we'll be staying at a place in Via Caio Mario. Our plan is to dig in to some really good porchetta after checking in. Is there a place near Via Caio Mario? Budget is around EUR5 -EUR10 per serving. We've heard of Er Buchetto, but it's pretty far from Via Caio Mario...
Hi, we really want to go this place. Will this museum be open on Oct 26, 2013? It's our only chance. We couldn't access its website's booking page, as it is blocked in our country of residence.
Is there any annual public event or tradition that takes place in the city that's Halloween-related? I don't plan to wear a costume and go trick-or-treating (LOL!) but simply to watch and enjoy what might go on.
I am booked from Sacramento, Ca to Rome. I have a 7 hour 50 minute layover in Brussels.
We plan to leave the airport and go downtown for a few hours. To leave the Brussels airport requires us to to through customs. Do we have to do it again in Rome? If not is there any procedure to follow skip Rome's customs? Our last flight to Rome is on Brussels Airlines.
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.....Mr Getting Older Every Minute.
We are interested in an opera during our stay in Rome, and I have found a website called romeoperatickets.com.
Is this a safe site to buy tickets online? Or are there other sites that would be better?
I was looking on line and saw that there is an Easter eve opera performance in Rome on April 19th with the following discription:
Immersed in the enchanting atmosphere of this occasion – with candlelight illuminating the beautiful Baroque concert hall Sala Baldini – you can experience the depth and refinement of this Easter concert.
Enjoy famous opera arias and instrumental masterpieces of all periods, performed by soprano and tenor and accompanied by Accademia Concertistica di Roma. This exceptional ensemble will captivate you with a performance of great emotional intensity in the old vestry of the church of Santa Maria in Portico in Campitelli, now one of Rome’s most acclaimed concert halls.
The cost for the least expensive tickets seems to be a total of 81 euros for three tickets but I am not able to determine what type of seating within this hall will these tickets provide. Alsonot sure if this is a good buy, although it seems to be a good deal. Lastly, I wonder what th dress attaire is for a Saturday evening performance and can one go casual?
We would like to see a performance at some point in our trip, whether it be in Rome or Venice.
Thanks once again,
We (all adults) are planning to stay here for four nights in November. Is this a centrally located hotel? Is the area good. If not, what other hotels we should be looking at. Thanks for your assistance.
