    • Culinary Walking Tour of Rome?

      Rome 9 hours ago

Can anyone recommend a culinary walking tour of Rome? There are numerous tours listed if you Google the subject. Some are surely better than others. We would prefer a small group or possibly even a private tour.

      Civitavecchia Aug 16, 2015 at 6:32 PM

We are planning on using a car service to get us to Florence after our cruise docks. ( 3 couples + luggage) the thought behind taking a car over train was to 'see the countryside'. Just wondering if we are crazy to do a car over a train? Train would be faster and less expensive.

      Rome Aug 6, 2015 at 2:19 PM

I am returning to Rome for the first time since 1985. I recall some of the restaurants we enjoyed in past years and am wondering if they are still as good as in the past. We used to enjoy, Tre Scalini, Cesarina, Girarosto Toscano, San Souci among others. Other restaurant recommendations in that area would also be welcome.

      Eating in Rome

      Rome Aug 1, 2015 at 1:03 AM

      Hello!

Well, this may seem an unusual question, but... How do locals eat in Rome?
We are a couple traveling, and we would like to understand if it's usual to ask for 2 different main courses and share, and some starters, or if it's not a common habit.
In Portugal we are used to share some starters, then each one us have a separate main course (meat or fish), being unusual to ask for a second dish, finishing just with a desert.

How is it in Rome? Of course one can do as it pleases you and try from the others plate, but I would like to understand the "rules" :)

      Thanks!

I would like to take my daughter ( who is in her thirties) to see the sites in Rome. reading the reviews on here is quite scary. we would like to stay near the city as the hotel prices in the city are very high. the problem now is where to stay that is relatively safe, with bus or train travel into the city itself. any recommendations would be gratefully received. This is a holiday on a budget but possibly the last time we will get away together. ( I am not in the best of health ). thank you all in advance. :)

      Rome Jul 2, 2015 at 4:08 AM

I am very concerned that I have not allowed enough time to get to Termini from the airport. I arrive Ciampino on a Tuesday at 16.50. Do you think I will have time to catch the Terravision transfer leaving at 17.15 ? Also, this bus is scheduled to arrive Termini at 18.05...do you think there is enough time to find the correct platform for the Naples train
leaving at 18.23 ? Obviosly, everything has got to be on time for me to have any chance, and I am considering getting a taxi from the airport to Ciampini rail station, where the travel time to Termini is only 16 minutes.
Any ideas welcome, the alternative seems to be to cancel my Rome - Naples train ticket and get a later train.
