where do the regular folks go to party all night? I'm not into big fancy clubs requiring flashy attire, having long lines, steep covers and pretentious clientele..... I'm not a 'see and be seen' kind of girl, I just like to party!
Any time I go to Vegas I end up drinking and wandering the strip. I never want to stay in one place. I have taste similar to yours I'm not big on the fancy nightclubs in which there is an abundance. I like the atmosphere at New York New York in which there is the ESPN bar/restaurant and an Irish pub. I also line to hang out at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. Have fun...and let me know if you find any other cool places to hang out.

I haven't been to Vegas for sometime now, but would say that the less pretentious places were actually not the best places to go on the strip or downtown. The people seemed more jaded than I would have liked. Out in the more residential neighborhoods you might find the type of place that you are interested in. You could the best answers to your question by asking hotel staff or wait staff at restaurants. The locals can tell you where they go for the type of evening you like.

Try the Irish bar on the same row of New York New York heading up the strip, excellent night there. Also there's bars in the hotels. I've been to the two bars in the MGM which are on the same floor as the casino. Good atmospheres and friendly people to talk to. Hayley :)

Also there's Dick's bar in Excalibur (they do offers on drinks too!) :)

Harrah's outdoor party pit was kind of fun and it was anything but fancy. Just people drinking, dancing, and having fun. If you are near the Rio, the Voooo Lounge in the 51st floor was pretty good. We got in after midnight on a Sunday night with no cover & no wait. Sure some poepl were dressed up, but a lot weren't. Great views, decent music, and a really nice outdoor balcony with a view.
