We are staying at the Golden Nugget over spring break and are looking for medium price meals and where is the best breakfast and sands/burger for lunch places are. Any places you enjoy that isn't really pricey. Any really fun things to do w/o a car. We are planning to do the downtown only. Thanks!!!!
My favorite place, hands down, in the downtown area is the Triple 7 BrewPub in the Main Street Station. It's bar food - but it's really good and really generous portions. There are two OK buffets downtown - again at the Main Street Station and Golden Nugget. Neither are huge, but they have decent comfort foods for the price.
I've not been to the Market Street Cafe in the California, but they still have a few steak specials for under $10.
If you're willing to walk about a half mile south of the Plaza, you can check out the Gamblers General Store and Spinettis if you're into books or gambling collectibles. I wouldn't wander too far past that (nor would I leave Fremont street in the evening for that matter) - some of the neighborhoods can be a little sketchy.

Downtown and the biggy is the overhead Fremont Street Experience with a moving movie over your head of cartoons and fun in Las Vegas. Most of the casinos downtown have great prices on snacks, drinks and food. Just follow the crowd. Check out the VT Travel Guide for Downtown Las Vegas at:
I have a video of the Fremont Street Exerience, night only. See:

We discovered that the Venetian has a food hall too late. You might want to try there for a cheap meal. We also liked the buffet at the Bellagio which was good value and of course you could eat as much as you want.

Thanks so much for the ideas. Looking forward to staying downtown this time. :)

To carole0015, Just for clarification, both the Venetian and Bellagio are located on the Strip, not downtown. Without a car, you can take the Strip & Downtown Express to enjoy any location on the Strip while staying downtown. See:

Many of the downtown restaurants are inexpensive compared to the Strip hotel buffets Lunch has the best price for value and the downtown Golden Nugget Buffet Lunch is only $10.00 a person, whereas the Bellagio Buffet Lunch is $20.00. Of course, what is offered and to your taste, is important. Bellagio is noted for one of the best buffets in Vegas. If you want the best for choices of food items at the same price as Bellagio, then the Rio's Carnival World Buffet (off strip) is where to go. Bon Appetite. :-)

Hanging around Freemont Street will be a little cheaper for you. Lots of places to eat there. Yet, I agree with travelgourmet, Vegas has a great transportation, so take advantage of them to see the Strip too. Check out http://www.chow.com/ site. It has lots of folks who had good suggestions to eat downtown. Have a great time!!

There is a sports bar in Baleys that does an enormous Nacho plate that will easily fill 2 people, I think it was about $10? I highly recommend it
