We're planning to stay in Las Palmas for a week over New Year. Two questions:
1) What part of the city is the best place to stay in? I assume it will be too cold to actually go swimming, but maybe it's still a good idea to stay close to Las Canteras? Basically, we want to stay in an active neighborhood, with lots of people moving around both day and night (restaurants, bars, and shopping). Is the old town better? Or somewhere else?
2) What does people do on New Years eve? Are there any gala dinners, big parties etc we can sign up for?
We are spending a week at christmas in Matagorda and some friends have booked to stay in Costa Teguise. Will we be able to walk to them or will we need to get a taxi, and if so do you know roughly how much it will cost? And if the taxis run on Christmas Day?
On 5th February I will already be in Las Palmas, and am due to meet a passenger arriving on P & O's "S.S. Oceana" due there that day. Can someone please give me the full address of a landmark building in the street network of Las Palmas that's close to the Berth used for visiting P & O line Cruise Ships ?
Just wondering what are the best beaches in or near San Sebastian.
Besides the ones near the harbor, I see the Playa de la Guancha and Playa del Cabrito south of San Sebastian and Playa de Avalo in the north.
The ones in the south are only reachable by foot it seems...Do you recommend going there?
