Looking for any English speaking people to camp with at Wacken. I am travelling by myself and this will be my second time to Wacken so I know my way around. I am a friendly 26 year old Australian Male.
We will depart on a saturday in July at about 17.00 in Kiel and have to be in Copenhagen next day at 15.30 to reach the ferry to Oslo. There are two possibilities: by ferry from Puttgarden or the longer way over the Great Belt Bridge. We prefer the ferry but heard about heavy traffic before Puttgarden. When is the best time to go by ferry, saturday evening or late sunday morning? As we travel by camper van it doesn’t mind where we spend the night.
Hello, we are going on vacation this christmas/newyear. When are the shops and restaurants open? Anne
Hi fellows, I am planning to go to Lübeck for a weekend in either November or December (for the Christmas Market). While I am there I would like to attend a classical concert of some sort (preferable a certain Mozart mass). I had hoped to go to a church concert, but a regular venue will also do. Can anyone help me with the calendar of events for various church concerts (or other venues) in Lübeck? I can't seem to find much specific info on the net.
Hello! I would like to know is it possible to get by train or S-Bahn from Luebek's airport to Heide?
I will be in Kiel a few hours arriving with the Oslo ferry on Wednesday. Can anyone recommend a nice biergarten or pub to enjoy a mid-day beer within walking distance of the ferry terminal? Cheers ;-)
This friday afternoon we will be arriving at Lubeck by car. We have booked a hotel in the historic center and they do have a parking lot, but we are questioning whether it is possible to drive all the way into the historic center a friday afternoon without beeing stuck for hours. Is it better to leave the car at the park and ride parkinglot and take the free shuttle to the center?
I will be tarvelling to Lubeck in next few weeks. I have a flight booking till Hamburg. I wanted to know the best means to reach Lubeck from Hamburg other than airways and their timing details. Thanks in advance

Plan to take a train from Hamburg to Lübeck in early May and stay overnight. How far is Lübeck from Hamburg? Any interesting centrally located places to stay overnight? Vaike
We are going from Rödby (sorry, there´s no right kind of ö in Finnish keyboard) to Puttgarden. We are coming from Norrköping in Sweden at that day,and might be a good idea to stay over night somewhere there. Is Puttgarden a nice town?Or is there something nicer close to it?Our next stop will be Hann, but it might be too much driving for one day. Or maybe we should stay at Denmark-side? One opinion is to stay at Köpenhagen, even if we were thinking of doing it on our way back home.So I´m now thinking of other possibilities.
Can someone tell me what would be the best way to get from Hamburg airport to Kiel & then to the port to pick up a cruise on Sept. 4th. Also any idea of costs would be greatly appreciated.
What is the best way to get to the cruise terminal in Kiel from Hamburg.
Hi, Can anyone suggest a good and reasonable bed and breakfast accomodation in Lubeck for a night? Thank you Jayanthi
looking for the best way from lubeck airport to hamburg city ie trains/buses
I read somewhere that there are 2 seperate tariffs; DB Bahn's if you take a IC or EC train or SH's tariff if you use a local train. I want to take the local train. Is there a special ticket that I should ask for (so I don't get the fast train)? How much does the local train to Hamburg cost? Is there a special ticket where local transportation in Hamburg is included because I have to continue with bus to my final destination. I would really appreciate any help because I feel quite confused at the moment!
My husband and I and our two children (ages 2 and 7) will be traveling to Kiel for a family event. We had originally thought that the trip would be in the warmer months, but we have just learned we will be there in January! This brings up many questions for us: -what are some good things to do with children in the area at that time? -is it possible to rent a vacation apartment in midwinter? In the past, we have flown into Hamburg and taken the train to Kiel. This time we are considering coming into another city -- Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam, Munich, or even Paris -- instead. Any thoughts on this? Which of these cities would be most appealing and child-friendly in January? Thank you!
We are going to get a train from Dusseldorf to Kleve to visit the cemetary as my husband's uncle is buried there. We want to leave flowers on behalf of the family in Australia. We do not have a car, and are not confident of driving anyway, so it is possible to get a taxi from the town? Any information would be appreciated.

Hello, I was wondering about travel times using Länder-Tickets in the Schleswig-Holstein region. I don't have much time, but would love to see the North and Baltic Seas in one day. I would like to see Sylt, Flensburg and Kiel, staying either in Sylt or Kiel for one night. Does anyone know how much the travel time would be between these places? I'd like to stop over for at least a few hours in each. Thank you. :)
I read abt. the train terminal built in 1961 - would like some information as to HOW the train gets across the water between Germany and Denmark. Thanks, Leonore
This is my first Wacken. I will be staying in Hamburg a few days prior to the festival. I will be alone at the festival so not keen on camping. Is it possible to travel to and from the festival to Hamburg each day?
Hi together, some friends of mine and me, all from Hamburg, would like to go to the Ostsee one weekend and camp there one night. Preferably at the beach and NOT at a camp site. Is this possbile in your opinion? We know that it is not allowed, but it would still be nice to do it anyways. In other parts of the world noone would care ALTOUGH it is not allowed. This might be different here in Germany I guess. We'd just sit around in the dunes with a keg or case of beer and get the tents up around 1 hour before sunset and take them down again early in the morning. Has anyone done this before? Anyone been caught? We'd come by train and/or bus from Hamburg. Any recommendation where exactly at the Ostsee it might not be so crowded and therefore possible to do this from Saturday to Sunday one weekend? If all of you are strictly recommending NOT to do it, tell me. And which camp site/ where would you recommend then instead? Regards and Danke in advance, Phil
Hi I'm trying to book a weekend away in Lubeck and i've been advised to fly to Hamburg. How far is Lubeck centre from the airport? and can I get there using public transport, or do I need to hire a car? Thanks
