I will be in Freiburg 30th Oct - 2nd Nov. I've just realised that this covers Halloween, All Saints and All Souls Day. I suspect (to be honest, I hope) that Badners don't celebrate Halloween in the same tacky(!) way as the USA and latterly the UK. In fact, isn't the Germans' use of 'Halloween' Denglish? What was wrong with 'Vorabend vom Allerheiligenfest'?! Question: On Nov 1 and Nov 2 do any traditional events relating to Allerheiligen and Allerseelen take place in Südbaden? Would need to be accessible by train or bus from Freiburg.

Does anyone know what it would be like driving from Heidelberg to Salzburg, Austria for just a day or two? Also, are there any interesting WWII historical sites in proximity to Heidelberg - one daughter is a huge history buff. Only there for about 10 days and want to make the most of it. Right now, Heidelberg is the only place we are visiting after flying into Frankfurt. (This was originally posted in the wrong forum)
I am going to Karlsruhe on a conference In October and I think I can get the Hahn express from the airport to the centre of Karlsruhe. Can anyone confirm this.

We are traveling from Basel by train ending up in Heidelberg and what is interesting to visit in 4 days? And are interested in historic quaint, interesting villages to walk around, good food and local beer and breweries. Villages with the centers reasonably a short walk, less than 1 Km, to the train station. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.?
We are getting out at Konstanz by train, is this okay? Can I cover most of the Boden see's places by starting from here?
How shall I start?
Hello! On Sunday I'm going to Freiburg and I'm arriving in the evening (and I'll be staying there for a month for a study-holiday). Then on Monday I'll need to go from Vauban to the city centre by bus.
Can you tell me if I can I buy bus tickets directly on board? Otherwise where can I find them?
Thank you in advance!
What is the best part of the city to have good view of the lake? We will be arriving from the south and we would like to book a hotel at the part of the area which is more easy to access the lake on foot and get good views. Thank you.
Hallo. Pls can you tell me if we follow the 60km of the Schwarzhochstrasse driving from Ottenhofen to Baden Baden without actually visiting the cities on our way, since they are not the ones we are interested in, will we still be able to see from above some sights eg.Mummelsee? I mean, does the route itself give a chance of sightseeing or does someone have to go near the cities? You see, we just want to have a panoramic view of the forest. Thank you.
Hallo my friends. We will arrive by car in the lake after the Zugspitze ascending experience and a visit to the Neuschwanstein Castle. I don't know if it will still be day light or if we arrive after sunset. But anyway, my first question is where exactly in the area do you think we should book a hotel (bagdet) and secondly, if we have the time, what should we do just to get the feeling of the area. I have read about Lindau, Mainau and the Reihenau islands. And of course there is Konstanz. Actually, we will be two nuns and a priest and we are interested in sth that will give us the sense of the place (since time is so limited). We depart first thing in the morning.
car travel directions from Sindsheim Hotel to Marketplatz (Town Hall) in Eppingen?
Can I park a car at Triberg Rail Station for the day,so that I can travel to Zurich by rail?
Greetings all! I will arrive by plane to Stuttgart Airport (from Italy on Air Berlin), landing at 3pm. I plan to catch an S2 / S3 to Stuttgart Hbf, then catch an ICE train to Frankfurt Hbf.
Should I reserve an ICE train ticket in advance to get the best price? If so, plane lands at 3pm, what departure time should I reserve my ICE train? Perhaps 7pm ICE train? (4 hours from landing to boarding ICE?) I wish to allow for any unforeseen plane / customs delays etc. I don't wish to rush too much!
Thanks for any advice!
i'll be moving to reutlingen for 4 months september - december and I'm curious what the general feel is of this town? any nightlife? is it eventful? is there easy access to other towns and near by cities?
Hello everybody, we are planning to stay for 4 nights in Bad-Herrenalb to explore the area of the Black Forest. We are a married couple with a 2-year old girl.
We think of making day trips to Baden-Baden, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, plus Heidelberg on the way back home.
I have the following questions:
1. Could you suggest any other sight that is a must-see around the area - e.g. castles, small villages etc. Preferably something not more than 40' drive away from Bad-Herrenalb.
2. Do you believe that any of the above cities could be replaced by another? E.g. Munster.
3. Do you think that we could be able to see the main sights of those cities in just one day, i.e. 6-7 hours, given that we should take the child's needs under consideration?
4. Any suggestions for a parking place at those cities. It is always stressful to go into a new city by car and it is helpful to have a clue where to go.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice!

Are there any public outdoor pools of lakes for swimming near Simonswald?
Is there enough to do in Triberg for a whole day out?
How busy would the Europa Park be on a Monday in August?
Is there much to do/see in Freiburg for a morning?
On one day we are planning on a trip to Stuttgart and parking just off the main shopping street and close to the train station. Some will go and look around the town, while others wish to visit the Mercedes and Porsche museums.
what is there around the main town to see and how easy is it to get to the car museums and which is the best to visit, giving we would like to meet back with the others before we go for a meal.
Other trips we have planned are to Switzerland and Liechtenstein for the day, we are planning on doing this on Liechtensteins national holiday, so we can see the festivities, has anyone been and is it worth it for a day out.
The other trip idea was a trip to Lake Como, but the small towns up the left hand side, has anyone been and whats worth a visit?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Which tram line - not train should I use from Karlsruhe to the Hotel Holder Ettlingen.
Using the tram system any suggestions for nice destinations to visit using just trams.3 day visit.
Any easy train journeys from Karlsruhe to get flavour of the region- 90 year old father with me.
What would be the next must-see, after the castle, of course, if we only have one day/night in Heidelberg?
I need to travel from the airport by bus to Karlsruhe / Ettlingen. How do I buy a ticket for the bus? Does the driver give tickets or do you have to get them first from a machine? I have no German and so need to have a clear idea as to what to do.Where would I find a machine and would it also have English instructions.
We will be in Freiburg in April. We will have a car. Looking for day trip suggestions to France and Switzerland.
I am working on my family genealogy of the Pfau family, who lived in Schopfloch and several were mayors of the city in 1700s and early 1800s. but my genealogist says there are 3 Schopflochs in Germany. In my family history it describes it as a town "in southern Germany, in the Schwabisch Alb region" The genealogist says these are the three but I can't tell which is the one described in the family records. Do any of you know?
Which one? There are 3 in Germany:
72296 Schopfloch near Freudenstadt (phone book full of PFAUs) I suppose it is this one?
73252 Schopfloch between Stuttgart and Ulm (Württemberg) (some PFAUs)
91626 Schopfloch near Ansbach/Nürnberg (Bavaria) (no PFAUs) my knowledge of German geography is poor but can any of you tell me which is the most likely the one my family describes as southern germany near Schwabische Alb? I'm guessing it is this one but I can't find any map to let me know there is a Schopfloch in this region. Does anyone know? thanks so much . Fred Lorey
I wish to stay in Gengenbach. However, as per Google maps, the apartment is 1.5 km from the train station. Is there any local bus service available in the village.... Especially may be needed after coming late in the evening after sightseeing.
