      Thai travel vaccination clinic recommendation?

      Bangkok Apr 26, 2015 at 10:38 AM

Has anyone been to the Thai travel clinic to get shots? I'm looking to get my typhoid shot, and this seems like the cheapest yet most reliable place to get it. If you haven't been there, have you been somewhere else that you could recommend ? Tia

      3 weeks in Thailand?

      Thailand 14 hours ago

Hi Guys, I arrive with my partner and 16 year old son to Thailand on 7th July and leave on 27th.

I am looking at 4 nights Bangkok (arrive 01.00 on 7th, so that's 1 night gone). We are meeting my sister who is flying from Australia to meet us. My plans from there are loosely as follows:

      Fly to Krabi - 5 Nights (11th-16th)
Boat to Phi Phi - 2 Nights (16th-18th)
      Boat to Phuket - 5 Nights (18th-23rd)
Fly to Chiang Mai - (23rd-26th)
      Last night in BKK. (26th)

      Does this seem OK?

With Phuket, where do you suggest staying? We love a good view but not too bothered about using the beach much, we love to get out and visit shops, markets, temples etc. Our son is 16 and we are really open minded so have no problem with not shielding him from any seediness but I don't want a dodgy area.

I am actually a travel agent and send people to Thailand all the time, they mostly get caught up on 5* luxury and rarely leave the resorts, so location isn't a massive issue to them. We like a good standard and if I get an agents rate then I'm happy to stay in some luxury but happy with a good Holiday inn etc. I have looked at agents rates and Centara have some good options, one located in Patong but colleagues are warning me off Patong!

In Bangkok I think I'm going to go with the Mercure near MBK? Is this OK?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated - weather info would be good!

    • thailand jan-feb2016

      Thailand May 7, 2015 at 1:23 PM

      Hi guys
First timers to thailand here. We are hoping to travel to a few places over our month in thailand including bangkok chiang mai phuket krabi phi phi and a couple of the smaller islands. We are not wanting to be fixed on dates for places. Will it be difficult to find accommodation? We are not overly fussy - just wanting our own bathroom. Will it be possible to just turn up in places and find a room for a couple of nights? Or is booking advisable? Thanks in advance for any help

    • 6 days between 16th June to 21st June 2015

      Thailand May 5, 2015 at 11:25 AM

      Hi Travel lovers,

I am travelling Solo to Thailand between 16th June to 21st June 2015. I am on a tight budget and would like to know what are the best places to visit, economical accommodation mainly hostels, local transport options, and vegetarian food places to try.

Some pointers - I want to explore the country through ship, train and by road.
I am on a tight budget and hence Hostel accommodations/ couch surfing is preferred.
Suggest some really authentic places. Not the common tourist attractions.

      Thanks! :)

    • Getting around and making hotel reservations in Thailand next month? Weather?

      Thailand May 16, 2015 at 7:40 AM

We'll be arriving in Thailand on June 17th (about a month from now) and spending several days in Bangkok with a full three weeks in the country. We have a hotel in Bangkok, but beyond that, we don't yet have any travel or hotel reservations. I've been busy, but also hesitating to make exact plans because of weather. We'd like to go north to Chang Mai area for about a week, and then south to islands, Andaman coast and gulf coast for about a week. Is it best to travel by air, and if so, do I need to make domestic flight reservations in advance? Any recommendations on airlines to use? What about buses and trains? June -July are low seasons? Do I need to make hotel reservations in advance to get nice places at this time of year? Any recommendations regarding where to go to avoid all-day rainstorms and have some fun in the sun? Thanks.

      Thailand Apr 27, 2015 at 5:37 AM

    • booking hotels now or waiting until in Thailand?

      Bangkok Apr 26, 2015 at 1:22 PM

My husband and I will be arriving and leaving from Bangkok (12/20/15-1/2/16). We would like to also visit Angkor Wat and Ko Samui. We are on a budget. My husband is comfortable booking a couple of nights in Bangkok and then just playing it by ear. My concern is that we are traveling during the busy season and that we will have difficulty finding decent (and cost friendly) places to stay unless we book in advance. What do you recommend?

As I cannot read or write Thai I cannot tell you the name of the good restaurant but it is on the Thanon Pongsanuk Road next to the Yan Dam, North Side.

what does it mean ..... ??

by vtveen Online Now Jul 6, 2006 at 11:50 AM

We have visited Wat Phra That Lampang Luan last January. We did like this temple very much and were overwhelmed by the wat. its buddgha and the murals.

During our visit a lot of Thai people were coming to the Wat, bringing a bunch of sticks with them. They divided these sticks on a lot of piles between the wat's.

Can somebody tell me what this means ???
