We will be at Machu Picchu in January and are planning to do the hke up Huayna Picchu. My husband thinks we would be better off doing the later hike as the fog may have lifted. I think it would be better to do the early hike as there will be less people.
We are staying at the Sanctuary so it would not be a problem to be on time for the early hike.
I would appreciate your thoughts on doing the trail with first group out, or with the later group.
I was originally going to hike from Lima to Cusco, but found out that it's too dangerous. Being a solo "gringo" entices a long list of criminals. I was told that the only relatively safe way was to hike from Nazca to Cusco. Does anyone know of any areas I should steer clear of? I only have a few days to map out my route.
Before going to Macchu Picchu, where should I start my tour or spend a few days so as to try and avoid altitude sickness? Is January an ok time to visit Peru, Macchu Picchu and do a short Amazon cruise, or is it just too wet? (I'm from Australia).
Is it possible one can only book the trip to machu picchu until december 2013. We want to book on a date in june 2014 but from januari 2014 it al says availability 0.
It it possible you can only book 2 months ahead?
