Hello! me and my friend are going to be in San Fran area at the end of July and thought of coming for 2 weeks to Lake Tahoe for a relxaed vacation. we are both fans of swimming and were wondering what is the best place around Lake Tahoe for swimming? What is the temperature of the water? Is there a reccomended calm nice beach? Also, what would be the best way to get from San Fran to Lake Tahoe? renting a car or taking a flight? Hope you can help us out! thanks!

Hello VTers, I'm visiting Lake Tahoe for the first time on 23st December. This is specially for fun and take photographs. Any tips are appreciated. Hope to meet some VTers if possible
I know it may be a late start but I am trying to plan a trip to your part of our country. I am thinking about Late July 2007. I saw that it is only about 3 hours drive accross the state from San Francisco to Tahoe which we want to see. It wold be a memory to see the Golden Gate Bridge. We are a family of 6, two teen girls and two 5 yr old boys (both adopted sons from Africa). We like National Parks and must see sights type of things. We will rent a van and don't mind driving a lot to cover a lot of area and schedule our nights hotels to accommodate seeing different things instead of staying in one place. If we want to see San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, what airport would you fly into? Any rough ideas of itinerary for a Saturday to Saturday trip? I see Sacramento is in between SF and Tahoe. Is there good things to do and see there? from all the posts here it sounds like there is a lot to see I appreciate any ideas and do value everyones comments and thank you in advance for your time. Also what is the difference between Lake Tahoe NV and South Tahoe CA or is it the same just different sides of the Lake? Jim
Wondering if anyone knows of good LIFT TICKET & HOTEL/MOTEL deals that would come in handy, at least reasonably close to a resort. And when will it probly start snowing? The wait kills!
My fiance and I are getting married on November 21st at Emerald Bay does anyone know how high the possibility of snow on the ground will be?
We are planning to do a one day trip (drive from SFO and get back) to Lake Tahoe this week end (May middle!). I have never been there. I am interested in great vistas - of the lake and the mountain. I would highly appreciate if someone can suggest a probable route / destination points. Thanks.
My husband and I are thinking of going to Squaw Valley for our 25th anniversary. We are not skiers but appreciate the area. He does'nt want to go until the gondola is open. Does anyone know if that is worth planning our vacation around since we are not skiers? Also, any recommendations about the Inn and area.
I am considering a long weekend of skiing the Lake Tahoe area sometime between Thanksgiving (weekend after) and Christmas (weekend before). I have three questions: 1. Which of the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas, (not the holiday weekends themselves but the weekends after and before) would be the best weekend to consider making the trip? 2. Which is the quickest route to the Lake Tahoe area, either North Lake Tahoe, or South Lake Tahoe from SFO airport? 3. How much driving time should I expect driving from SFO to Lake Tahoe? Thank you, Steve
I'm talking spiders and a draft. Electricity optional. One room fine. Outhouse okay. With a view of the lake, up high. Cheap. Any ideas? You search "rustic cabin Lake Tahoe" on Google, all you get are these slick marketing sites with 3-story, ten bedroom "cabins" with a jacuzzi for26,000 a night. Anybody know where to find the real deal?
i've been asking around and have gotten different responses. . . which would be the best way to get to SOUTH TAHOE, despite the holiday weekend? we will be leaving friday night from the BAY AREA. . . 80 to 50 to south tahoe, or 4 east to stockton and then 88 to 89?
Has anyone been to Sierra at Tahoe on a holiday weekend (president's day weekend)? I've been told it's super crowded. . . . or would basically all the south tahoe resorts be packed? Heavenly is one of the few that has a lesson-rental-lift package. . . but heard it's more for the advanced. . . . is Heavenly rather beginner friendly? Thanks if anyone can give input.
A group of us is going to Tahoe for President's Day Weekend. Most of us are beginners, intermediate, or newbies to snowboarding. We've been researching on all the ski resorts. . . . We're staying at a place 3 minutes away from Heavenly. Does anybody have any suggestions on the best ski resort to go to, in terms of price, and crowds? Or will all the resorts be crowded due to the holiday? I was thinking of Sierra, but have been told it's super crowded on holidays, and to go to Alpine instead. Does anybody have any suggestions on the best ski resort to go to, in terms of price, and crowds? Also, does anyone know how long it will take to drive up to Tahoe from CA Bay Area on friday night? Thanks for any input.
Hi, When does it typically start snowing in Lake Tahoe region? Are there locations there that have snow in the first half of November? -S
