      JFK layover

New York State Jul 15, 2014 at 5:43 AM

We'll be on a 10 hour layover at JFK on our way to Vancouver from Dubai unfortunately with 2 different airlines. Planning to get out and tour a couple of places in Manhattan with my wife and 2 year old daughter. My only problem is my baggage. Does JFK have any baggage storage services which I can use while we go around Manhattan. I dont want to carry all those baggage around the city nor does my connecting flight have any early check in facilities. We'll be arriving at terminal 4 and departing on terminal 7.

Some friends and I are planning to get tickets for the Rockettes' Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. Are there any seats/sections that we should specifically avoid getting, or is this one of those venues where every seat has a good view? :) I'm not sure how much money we're willing to shell out yet, but probably in the middle to upper middle of the ticket price range.

Also, any recommendations on decent and reasonable (for the area) lodging nearby?

      Thanks so much!

      Crime/forensic tour/experience

New York City Jun 23, 2014 at 5:50 AM

I have a 10 yr old visitor coming to NY. She is very into CSI and the like. I'd like to find a crime tour/experience but seems there is nothing except a Gangster/Mob tour, which may be a little boring. Would love something hands on. Willing to go to NYC/NY/LI, NJ, PA, CT. Pretty much googled out so looking for some help. I'm almost desperate enough to take her to a local police dept. :-) Any ideas would be appreciated!

Been there last month. Trying to identify two spiky buildings. Please help

New York City Jun 24, 2014 at 11:17 PM

I was at the top of the Empire State, took a picture to the north side. The shot shows green Metlife but there is another taller silverish building behind it with a tall spike at the top. To the west of this building, there is also another one with tall spike and H&M logo at the top. Tried many ways but couldn't identify, not even Google map street view.

I live in Sydney Australia. It was a wonderful trip, so much to adore and see. I can send you the photos but can't attach them here. Please advise if you need them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm trying to get from LaGuardia Airport to an Inn in Lake Placid via mass transportation to the greatest extent such a thing is possible and the cheapest way possible. I'm even considering a car service for of the trek as prices seem to be cheaper than those of traditional cabs. Any and all advice welcome. This will be my first time skiing in the Adirondack and I'm hoping I can have a good time sans-car!

Please help with New Years / Holiday Ski Trip

by MissKimT Online Now Nov 9, 2010 at 1:06 PM

      Hello!

We are planning our first trip to Lake Placid for Dec 26 through New Years. I'd appreciate any suggestions or things we shouldn't miss.

We have a small villa we found on www.vrbo for a great price.

We are foodies. Besides the big hotel food we plan to avoid, we are looking forward to Caffe Rustica, Brown Dog Cafe & Wine Bar, Ashley's Cafe, Interlaken Restaurant, Milano North, and ... we'll continue to research.

Any suggestions for New Years? Great places to be?

One thing we haven't researched yet are the slopes. Looks like there are two. I presume we can get tickets online. We'd probably like 3-4 days of downhill skiing, but would like to try cross-country for the first time.

Did I miss anything? Thanks in advance!

Travel between Burlington Vt. and Lake Placid

by SirIsaacBrock Online Now Jan 18, 2005 at 8:05 AM

Hoping someone can help me. I have arranged with some friends to go to Lake Placid for a weekend in March. We are coming in from Toronto and driving. Another friend is flying to Burlington from Washington. I'm trying to find a cheap way to get my friend to and from Lake Placid. I actually don't mind picking him up, but I was hoping not to have to drive back on the day we leave. The bus seems to go through Albany and is 10hrs. Flights into Lake Placid or Saranac are expensive. Enterprise Rent a Car will let us drop the car in Burlington ,but it will still cost75 + tax for one day. Any ideas?
