Keswick , Bowness, etc. B&B or self catered recommended?

Two of us plan to take the train from London to the Lake district. We would like to stay a few nights somewhere with a lake view. We would prefer a B&B or self catered place. Can anyone recommend one that we can easily get to by taxi? Bowness looks like it is easy to get to, but various sites suggest it may be too crowded. We will be going the second week in May. It sounds like most of the places in Keswick do not have a lake view. If we can't find one, I saw the Derwentwater Hotel mentioned. Can you get to it easily with a taxi and get one in the mornings to return to town? Thanks for any info

Bowness will be the easiest place to get to from Windermere station but it will also be quite crowded. The busiest part of the Lake District tends to be the Windermere to Keswick corridor as it is easily accessable by car and public transport. You can try the Lancaster to Keswick bus service which leaves regularly from Windermere station an goes via Ambleside, Rydal Water, Grasmere, Thirlmere and Derwent Water then into Keswick. Ambleside, Grasmere village and Keswick are set slightly aback from their respective lakes but there maybe a few more isolated B&B's on this route that stand right by the water.
