Hi, I would like to get more information on places to stay in Lahore. I will be traveling with my friend for four days in November and an ideal location would be preferred. We are looking forward to visit the Gurdwara Panja Sahib and Badshai mosque. And could you tell us ten crazy and fun things one should do when visiting Lahore. Another help that would be appreciated is best places for ladies shopping. Thanks!

If you are looking for reasonable yet budget accommodation, you can find a lot of choices around Lahore Hotel. It is just one km from Lahore Railway Station. From this place you can go any where in Lahore via cheap public transport. Countless eating places and cinemas/theaters are just on walking distance. Must visit historical places are Badshahi Mosque, Lahore fort, Shalamar Garden, Jahangir Tomb. These are huge places spelling ancient architectural glory. Additionally once can visit Jinnah Garden and Lahore Zoo. For tasting local cuisine try areas around Lakshmi Chowk, Lahore Hotel and Abbot Road. These areas are all walking distance apart from each other and offer authentic food at reasonable price. For expensive dining experience you should go MM Alam road in Gulberg. I am from Lahore and therefore will only recommend Food Street in Gawal Mandi to just go and visit but not to eat. Their food quality is very low, still it popular place among local tourists who visit Lahore. During early days, Food Street had badly impacted business of restaurants around Lakshmi Chowk and Abbot Road, but their business gradually increased once residents from Lahore realized below standard food offered by food street vendors. With regard to your question about Punja Sb, this place is an hour drive from capital city Islamabad. Islamabad is five hours drive by bus and 40 minutes by bus. Happy travel to Lahore....

The Parkway Hotel and Clifton Hotel near the railway station are perfectly fine. Both are safe, clean, and well-managed.
