Is smoking allowed in Laguna Beach? Where are the designated places where I can smoke a cig? Thanks.
All over California there are places that are banned from smokers, beaches, city, county and state parks. In Laguna Beach, even apartment balconies are restricted in some cases. Laguna Beach has banned smoking in the downtown area of Forest Lane. Actually, within 100 feet of the alley becuase of the homeless people who hang out there. Guess it was a way to deter them from hanging out around a few businesses in the alley area. Usually the rule is that you may not smoke within 20 feet of the enterance to a city, county or state building. This is probably a good rule for you to go by regarding private business. Some restaurants offer a smoking section. Check before you sit down. Also, many hotels have become non-smoking too. Some will provide a smoking section outside the room and away from some common areas, so ask about this before making reservations. You will most likely see where the smokers are going in each area and can join them. Otherwise just be discrete. Step out of the flow of people, or where there are children and you should be okay especially if you are a tourist.
