    • Made a mistake in posting in wrong place...sorry Lagos, Nigeria

Lagos State Jan 6, 2010 at 10:18 PM

I have been told by some people that the Nigerian government requires everyone to pay a 1900 US dollar fee to leave the country. Others have said that this is not true and is a scam and no one is required to pay the goverment a fee to leave the country.

I am trying to find out which is true. Has anyone who visted Lagos, Nigeria been asked to pay this fee?

I appreciate you reply and thank you for your time.....

Visa and copy airline ticket requirement

Lagos State Dec 22, 2006 at 5:05 PM

I am planning a trip to Lagos hopefully the end of March 07 and am researching the visa. One of the requirments is to attach a photocopy of return/flight booking/itinerary with the visa application. Now, on the chance that the visa is denied there is a good chance that I will lose the money for the ticket as I will not be able to refund the ticket. I am from Canada. Can anyone suggest how they have approached this situation? Is my only alternative to purchase a refundable ticket which I know is very expensive? Anna

Hello, I read your tips about Lagos. They were very helpful. I will be traveling to Lagos in August from the U.S. Since it is a cash society, about how much money do you suggest I bring? I will be staying from 8/7 to 8/20. Thank you. LiamRose

Would a local Nigerian like to escort me to purchase art?

Lagos State Jan 13, 2005 at 1:39 PM

I will be in Nigeria on business in two weeks, and would like to ask someone to keep me out of trouble and help with negotiations when buying local art. I might like to go to the museum in Lagos, or somewhere else if you can recommend a better place. Leave your email and we can see if it will work out. Thanks! Alan

What advice can you offer a Canadian visiting Lagos ?

Lagos State Oct 17, 2004 at 1:21 PM

Hi all, I am visiting Lagos this January. I will be staying for 3 weeks, and I will be staying with an Internet friend in Lagos with his family. I was just hoping for any advice Nigerians could give me for visiting your country. I am really interested in African art and animals. I am hoping to see some of this during my stay. Just any advice or suggestions that I have not considered. This will be my first trip out of Canada! Sarabia
