We are travelling in a group of 6 and would like to rent a van from Milan International Airport and drive straight to Lake Maggiore in view of our luggage. We plan to stay in Lake Maggiore and use it as a base to go around. May I ask if this is a good way to go or is it unwise to drive a van in view of the narrow roads which is common in many European cities. Appreciate any comments and/or suggestions. Many thanks, Kathy from Hong Kong.
It is hard to find how to get from Venice to Meina on the train - would you have any suggestions as to where to look please?
I'ld like to ask your opinion about visiting Lago maggiore in winter: is it worth, are there any shops or restaurants open, or it's better to go there in other seasons? What do you suggest to visit around the lake this time of the year? Is there ice on the surface?
thx in advance

We want to do some short (not heavy, we are starters!) mountainbike-routes in the neighbourhood of Cannobio/ Locarno (maximum of 40 kilometers). Does anybody know one? Please let me know how to find them (signs) or send me a roadmap/discription from the tour.
The same for a walkingtour; we like to do a walking tour to a mountainlake (ice-lake) or on highr mountains to the top. Please let us know if you have tips.
THANKS; greetings Karin.
Where going to Lago maggiore in 3 weeks and want to stay at a camping next to the lake. We take our mountainbikes with us and also want to do some walking tours through the mountains. Now we still don't know which campingsite ro stay on.
Does anybody know the next campings in CANNOBIO:
camping del fiume
camping del sole
camping valle romantica
We know the bigger campings from the internet with their website, but the smaller ones are unknown; who can give me some info (prices, hygiene from toilets, good campings or not?)
All info is welcome!!
Thanks a lot and happy holidays to you'll.
I am going on my honeymoon flying into Venice and then onto Lake Maggiore, Cannero Riveria. Anyway,we usually always hire a car but would like a break from this if possible and see some of the country side by train (and also being on honeymoon, we could do without the falling outs that come with the territory of driving and map reading in a strange country. I have tried to work out the trains and then buses and it looks simple but thought I'd ask if anyone has actually attempted this journey by public transport. We are flying back out of Bergamo Airport. If anyone has any suggestions of an easier destination to follow Venice which may be easier, feel free to add. Would have liked Bellagio but looks a nightmare to get to by train.
Hi all, I will be staying in Stresa and would like to visit Chiasso/Menrisio. Can you tell me the easist way to get there ?, is there a bus operating from Laveno-Mombello ? Thanks in advance. M
