    • Help me find a name to for a specific guest house

      Goa Dec 17, 2014 at 7:10 AM

We stayed at Silver Sands, off Beach rd in Candolim. A lady using our hotel pool said she was staying at a nearby guest house, so we went to look at it. We walked from the Silver Sands pool through a alley and arrived at the rear of the guest house on Beach road. The front was opposite(ish) "The Inferno" and the rear overlooked the back of Silver Sands. I have lost the contact details, can't find it on any map but I would recognise the lady owners name or the guest house name. Any help would be appreciated as I need to book flights soon.

      Bangalore Dec 7, 2014 at 11:39 PM

Hi!Everybody.I am travelling to Coorg in the last part of February and after having spent a week there would visit Mysore for three nights and then Bangalore two nights.Since we have never ventured that far South would be greatful if we could know the places to visit in all the three places. In Coorg we would be staying at theMahindra Resort in Medikeri.I understand it is a good place to stay. Please giveme all the finer tips of stay and eat local food. Most importantly what to do and see.
Similarly what to do and see in both Mysore and Bangalore?Could you recommend some other places nearby. We would rather not spend time in the major cities.I am aware that in Mysore is the Krishansagar Lake and the Palace.
I would be really greatful if we could visit another part of Coorg for a few days and not visit Bangalore,of which I am not too keen.Correct me if I am wrong.
I look forward to hearing of some interesting places to see and do.
      Thanks!!

We want to sometime alone but with nature. We would like to stay with local families in homely environment. So can you recommend me places that are generally not crowded, offer home stays with local cuisines and that can have small trails in the woods or along the hills. We are planning a trip for 7 days.

Hi, I am visiting Leh/Ladakh in the first two weeks on June, What are the essential things we need to carry in terms of clothing. Is it too cold even in the June or is it okay to carry thermal inner plus any swaeatshirt/jacket apart from your regular clothes?
Plus, as me and my father already have the glasses, so we cant wear goggles, will normal specs will do or need anything else?
For shoes i think normal sports shoes will do or not?

      1: Lamayuru -> Wanla -> Hinju -> Sumda Chenmo -> Sumda Choon -> Alchi
      2: Lamayuru -> Wanla -> Urshi -> Tar -> Mangyu -> Alchi

Day 7 (23 Aug): Sarchu - Manali via Rohtang Pass, Keylong

      Day 8 (24 Aug): Manali - Vashist - Manikaran - Manali

      Day 9 (25 Aug): Manali

      Day 10 (26 Aug): Manali - Dharamsala

      Day 11 (27 Aug): Dharamsala/Mcleod Ganj

Day 12 (28 Aug): Mcleodganj to Triund (trek)

      Day 13 (29 Aug): Triund - Ilaka - Triund - Mcleodganj (trek)

      Day 14 (30 Aug): Dharamsala - Shimla

      Day 15 (31 Aug): Shimla

      Day 16 (01 Sep): Shimla - Kalka/Kalka - Delhi (train)

I am also thinking about leaving out some of the monasteries near Leh and doing some rafting or trekking instead. Can anyone advise on good one day rafting/trekking routes near Leh?

      Hello,

I'm going to fly from Delhi to Leh around the 6th of September, 2011 then hopefully travel by land back down South to Manali, Dharmsala etc

I'm looking forward to the Ladakh festival but I'm wondering does the Ladakh festival have any bearing on finding accommodation in Leh and the Ladakh/ region? Is the festival concentrated on one specific region or spread out over the area? How big and well celebrated is it? I'd like to trek and travel in the region until the end of September then travel by road at the beginning of November. Are the roads generally still open at the beginning of October to head South to Dharmsala? Also what temperature weather is there in September? I suppose I can buy any heavy warmer gear in Leh if needs be?

      Thanks so much,
      James

How does it sound? I am in doubt about 3 days at tsomiriri? Is that required? If not, what should I cover instead?

Also, is it advisable to have guide? I generally prefer to explore on my own. Bt i beleieve there might be hassells due to permits etc. So, is it possible to do a tour on my own?

Nubra valley or Pasong Lake - 4D/5N

by lgh Online Now Apr 2, 2011 at 11:19 AM

      Hi all,

We are planning to visit Leh/Ladakh but for a very short trip 4D/5N. Given such a tight schedule, we are told that we have to choose between Nubra or Pasong? Appreciate if anyone that has visited these two places can recommend which one best to visit and if there is anyway at all that we can actually visit both in such a short trip.

Could anyone also advise what is the weather like in May and what to pack?

      Thanks.

      travelling to Ladakh

by magicwoman79 Online Now Jan 31, 2010 at 4:25 PM

      Dear Travelers,

I'm planning a trip from Delhi to Leh (via Dharamsala) in July/August 2010.
My idea is to road travel to Leh and go back via plane. I know all of it's been said before, but I'd love to hear some tips on how to get there.

I'm a woman and will be traveling alone. I'm looking for the safest means possible. I'd like to avoid trains.

i'd like to hear some of your suggestions on the route I should take, means of transport (buses/taxi), how to book it, how long does it take?

I'd like to make a stop at Dharamsala. Is there a way of getting from Dharamsala to ladakh?

      Thanks so much,

      magicwoman

      advance booking in July?

by piglet44 Online Now Sep 12, 2009 at 12:33 AM

      Dear forum
We want to visit Ladakh for around a week to 10 days in July 2010. I know this is high season and would like to ask if we need to book accommodation and trips (by jeep etc) in advance or will we be able to get better deals on the spot?
We would like to see the Nubra Valley and the Pangong Lake area.

Manali to Leh riding in a single day

by crazy4 Online Now Nov 6, 2008 at 10:38 AM

      Hi there
I am a hardcore adventure loving guy. I am planning to make a record, riding Manali to Leh in a single day without halting in Sarchu or Pang with my Pulsar DTSi 180CC.I want to know is there any body who had done that? Please advise me how do I prepare for that and which time of the year will be ideal for that ride?
