I am trying to get from Oleron to la Rochelle (in July), I understand there is a boat in high season, otherwise is there a bus from Saintes perhaps? Cannot get an answer or info from online. Many thanks
Here are the local bus timetables for the summer lesmouettes-transports.com/e... Route 6 and 6 Express serve the island from Surgeres railway station. Surgeres is on the line Poitiers - La Rochelle timetable below. telechargement.ter-sncf.com/... I can't find out anything about a ferry, even in summer. In fact, the first website that comes up when you go Googling (in French) begins 'For the inhabitants and older summer visitors, the ferries to Oléron are but a memory...' I hope that helps.
