Taizé is a little over 2 hours from La Rochelle. I am planning to go to Taizé for a week, but the only way I can figure out to get there is to take the train from La Rochelle up to Paris and then catch another train all the way back to Mâcon, taking more than 6 hours. Is there a quicker way to get from La Rochelle to Taizé by public transport? Thank you.
There is a Taizé about 2 hours from La Rochelle - but the Taizé which you reach via Macon is a totally different place in Burgundy, and the trip might well take more than 6 hours. The Taizé in Burgundy is the famous religious site. So make sure to which Taizé you really want to go. I have checked Taizé on googlemaps and there you strangely enough get only the one which is 2 hours north-east of La Rochelle.

Not sure about which Taizé you mean. If it's the famous religious community at Taizé, then it is about 550 kms (6 hours by car). You could take a train direction Lyon. But before I research the exact schedule, you may mean Taizé-Aizie in the Charente region. This one is indeed about 2 hour drive.

Michelin Route Planner gives 8 hits for La Rochelle and 4 hits for Taizé;-)

Is that better or worse? LOL (In the case of Taizé probably better, in the case of La Rochelle perhaps worse... ;-)
