L'Estartit- Barcelona

by Treesha777 Online Now Jul 23, 2009 at 8:32 AM

We'll be staying in L'Estartit at the end of August - and have heard that the best way to get to Barcelona is to take a train from a nearby village - can anyone tell us the name of that village? How long does the train take and where does it go to in Barcelona?

Also, does anyone know of any other good day trips that can be done from L'Estartit (we'll have our own car, but would prefer using local transport whenever possible)

Thanks!

Patricia

Never been exactly there by train but to other towns in the same train line (Girona, Figueres, Port Bou... all these 3 well worth going, btw)

my guess is the "nearby village" must be Flaça

It will take 1:40 - 1:50 h and it stops in a few stations in Barcelona. If you get off at Passeig de Gracia you will be just in front of Casa Batllò and as central as you can be

There are trains every 20-30 min, you can't reserve in advance.

Apart of the places said above, google for Besalú, Pals (old town, inland, the beach part is nothing special), Cadaqués, Tossa de Mar, Empúries... no idea how easy is going to these by public transport. The drives along the coast are very scenic
