Beppu to Kumamoto

by Neonstrocity Online Now Nov 15, 2010 at 6:32 PM

We will have a JR Pass and will be visiting Kyushu in July. Does anyone know: 1) How long does it take to travel from Beppu to Kumamoto by JR Line? 2) Good place to stay in Kumamoto? 3) Good place to stay in Kagoshima? One of these could be a Ryokan. 4) How long does it take to travel JR from Kagoshima to Hiroshima? You input would be greatly appreciated. Ron

Kagoshima to Hiroshima is over 3 hours on 3 trains. From Beppu to Kumamoto, 2.5 hours by direct train and 3 hours via Hakata. Do the search on hyperdia.com for full details.

Thanks for your comments, I have decided to stay two nights in Kumamoto, and just travel down and back from there to Kagoshima. Anyone know a good place to stay in Kumamoto? Ron

I'll be visiting in Apr next year. From the research I did, Dormy Inn Kumamoto seems to be one of the best hotels there. They opened in 2008, and has hot spring as well (cost about 10,000yen for 2ppl/night). You may wanna check it out at travel.rakuten.co.jp/en/inde...

Hey thanks for the suggestion, I will check it out. I am used to traveling to Japan on Business, mostly Tokyo, but it is much different trying to travel with family there. It still drives me crazy, that they charge you per person, and more often than not you can't have three in a room, unless it is a ryokan. Ron
