Hi, you go from Larnaka to Nicosia(about 40 KM). Then you go straight to Kyrenia (another 22-24 Km)and then to Lapathos or Lapta, travelling another 15km (almost 78 km in total. So it 'll take you less than 2 hours (1,5 luckily).
All I can tell you about Lapta is some ancient history. Until 312 BC it was part of the united kingdoms of the island. It was a colony of the Lakonians (ancient tribe of Lakonia, Peloponnisos,Greece) and was taken over by the Phoenicians during the 5th c. BC. It was later taken over by the Romans (58 BC). You can still see the ancient city ruins, where other archaeological remains where found, dating back to 3000 BC...

    You visited the place?
Is it good for kids, what are nearby beaches like?

    Hi Harry,
I know that it is safe for kids (...well how ceratin can you be with kids when they' re running around)? It has some luxurious villas with gardens - quite suitable for the little ones. I has a lot of levels though (upper village)combining see and mountain. It has sandy beaches, not plenty, but convinient. That is all I know. Sorry.

Thanks again, the sandy beaches is good news for their feet but not good for trying to rescue dropped ice creams!! We are in a villa so lets hope ours is luxurious!?

Well it depends from the ice cream, if it has a coconut flavour I wouldn't mind the sand ...(bliax). Never forget to see what the perimeter of your villa is build of, just to take your measures and protect the kids - don't always trust the owners.
    See ya.

This is where we are staying:
    http://www.ourcyprusvilla.net/
it looks lovely, we are travelling with another family, there will be 9 of us in total. We fly to Larnaca and then have mini bus to take us north.
The villa comes highly recommended and the pictures I hope live up to expectations.
It looks nicer than any hotel I have stayed in!!
    Regards

We drive on the left. The best currency to use is Turkish Liras. I'm not sure if there are any exchange places in Lapta but there are plenty in downtown Kyrenia near the harbour.
    Have a great journey!
