hi, I have a local Kuwaiti boyfriend for almost 3 yrs. already. He wants me to visit his country and get married but he told me that he cant be my sponsor since he is single as what his friends told him. I am a Filipina woman who is living in the Philippines. Now the problem is that, my friend who is already a resident in Kuwait can't be my sponsor for I am not a family member of her. Is there any possible ways that I can visit Kuwait with my boyfriends invitation? Can you please give me some helpful tips on what should I do?. Can we get married when I am already there, even if it's a visit visa? Can I stay in his flat or do I have to stay in a hotel when I got there? Your reply can be a great help for me. Thank you so much.

Hello! I am travlling to Kuwait city for a couple of days in the beginning of June (yes, I know the heat is fierce that time!), and I wonder which is the best area to choose for accomodation when you have not visited Kuwait city before? I want to see as much as possible and also do some shopping. I have been looking at some places downtown, close to Soor street and not too far away from the souk, and also some places in Salmiya, which seem to be a bit off, but on the other hand have beaches? Though I am a little confused, some guides say that Salmiya is the very center of Kuwait city and that the area hosts all shoppingcentres as well as all the culture, is that correct? Also, what would the price be to take a short cab ride within the city, maybe 5-10 min maximum? Do I need to haggle a lot about the price since people can tell my by looks I am European? Thanks in advance, Rebecca

I am a college student interested in learning Arabic. By summertime, I will have completed 2 semesters of Arabic. I am extremely interested in continuing my learning of Arabic over the summer, and I was wondering where the best place to learn the language would be. Some things that are of importance to me are: quality of instruction, location of the school, and activities outside of the school. Since I am going alone, I want to study somewhere where I won't feel secluded or outside of society. Also, scenery is of great importance. All things considered, where would you guys recommend studying Arabic? (I want to study for a period of about 2 months...I'm not sure if that changes anything). ( I know I posted this about a month ago in the Sousse and Damascus forum; however, those are no longer options.)
Hi, I'm travelling to Kuwait in a week for my job. I'll only be there for 3 days, one of which I have to myself and I intend to see the city and all its sights. As I am a female who will be travelling alone I am concerned about safety and also how to dress. Is Kuwait a safe city to explore alone? Obviously I will be conservatively dressed while there, I am just wondering how conservative I should be? As the weather will be hot, is it ok for a woman to wear open toed shoes or flip flops or should I have my feet completely covered? I will most likely have my legs covered and arms too but if it is very hot would I be OK to bare my arms in a t-shirt or legs in cropped trousers? Of course mini skirts and halter tops are out of the question but is a little exposed skin ok to make the climate more tolerable. Also I have a question about a Visa. I am aware that as an Irish citizen I can purchase my visa at the airport when I arrive. Can somebody please tell me if this can be paid for with a credit card or if it must be paid for with cash (and if cash is only accepted, is it only Kuwait Dinars?). Finally, are there ATMs in the airport? Thanks in advance for any help, Lauren
I have been told that a couple can not stay in a hotel in Kuwait without a marriage license and it has to be in Arabic. Can anyone verify this?
