Windsurfing in Kuwait

by Lisa___J Online Now Mar 31, 2006 at 2:03 PM

I noticed someone had asked about the possibility of doing some windsurfing a few years ago on this forum, but for a woman is it a different story? What about on the beaches in general? How much needs to be covered and what's considered an appropriate female activity?

Assuming I will be able to do some, does anyone have contact details for a beach club or surf shop where I could hire a rig? And will a full wetsuit suffice, even if it stops just above my ankles?

Thanks for any help, and apologies if I appear overly paranoid about local attitudes. I'm not too sure what to expect.

The KIM Center at the Hilton Beach Resort in Mangaf does windsurfing. Check out www.kimcenter.com

With respect to what to wear, you can wear what you normally would anywhere else to windsurf. The Hilton Resort caters more towards westerners, and whilst Kuwait is not a western country, it certainly isn;t quite so narrow minded as places such as Saudi.
