Hi, I am planning on going to Kuching in July and want to book a couple of trips before i get there (so that i have something planned). Everywhere i have looked says they only take 2 person bookings. Can anyone recommend a good private tour guide for me?. I am planning on at least visitin Bako national park and Kubah National Park whilst i am there.
Hi Can anyone please give me an e-mail address of a car hire company in Kuching? I've only been able to get hold of Mayflower and for just one day they're going to charge RM291 - expensive in any city! Otherwise it'll be public transport. Cheers
Hi, I enjoyed Kayakking 11 km along Semenggoh River during my Kuching trip in July earlier this year. My Rainforest kakis & I will be back next July 2013 & we were hoping to do White Water Rafting this time. Who the reliable White Water Rafting operators in Sarawak we could link up with ? 2nd query => we would like to go to a proper native spa to do some Sarawak specialty treatments. Any good recommendations for this & would they have a link/website we could check ? Lastly => we would like to do a day climb up & down Mt. Santubong, maybe start in the morning & finish in the evening, along with pick-up & return to hotel. Any safe & reliable operators to recommend for this ? Thanks in advance to all members who can assist us with these queries. Cheers.
Hi! Will be arriving KCH around 10pm on Sep 8....any advice as to how to get to the city? Will be staying at Pullman Hotel.
Will be in Kuching around 2nd week of Sep 2012 for a conference at the Borneo Convention Center...can anyone advice me on which hotel would be convenient to get to the convention site? I understand that there seem to be no hotel adjacent to the venue. Would prefer a hotel that is within the vicinity of shopping/restaurants and also convenient to go the the convention center, probably by taxi...is there an Intercontinental or Crowne plaza hotel?
Hi, I am going to Kuching in July with my Silat team and as i am from Australia i am a shorts and singlet girl though i have been told that in order not to offend people/guru i should wear less revealing clothing. Any tips on what i can get away with. Can i wear singlets? Are shorts/dresses that are just above the knee ok? Thankyou so much

Hi all, I'm in the midst planning for my trip to Kuching in March next year. Initially it was a tour-around-city plan, but now it expands and I'm thinking of visiting Bako National Park and Damai Beach as well. Just a few quick questions: 1) Is there any local tour operator that provide tour to Bako and/or Damai (plus Orang Utan Sanctuary) for ONE pax? 2) My plan is to visit Sarawak Cultural Village before proceed to Bako National Park and will then stay overnight at Bako National Park. Same question again, is it safe for tourist travel alone? any tour guides provided by the Park management? How's the charges like? 3) For destination above, is there any transportation included back and fro Kuching city, which is value-for-money for ONE pax? Thanks for all your help!!
Hi! I will be arriving in regional bus terminal (at 3 1/2 Mile) from Pontianak, Indonesia and was wondering how I can get to the waterfront area in Kuching from there. Is my only option to take a taxi (if so, about how much?) or are there buses I can take? ALSO, how do you get to the Regional Bus Terminal from the Airport? I googled all over Internet to try to get this information but I can't seem to find it...so please HELP! Thanks in advance!!!
Have some one know any bus will directly from "The Spring Mall" or "Swinburne University " bus stop to Kuching International Airport?
Hi My husband and i are planning to visit Kuching in August. We are bringing two elderly people and an infant with us. Which are the places we should go? Compare to Kota Kinabalu, which is better to visit in? Thanks
do any members of VT have any experience or stayed at the 360 EXPRESS hotel in Kuching(not to be confused with the 360 Hotel) it looks ok from the photos, but it also looks like a glorified version of Tune hotels. also i cannot see a wardrobe or windows in the photographs. my wife and i are planning to stay in Kuching for 5 days and although we have stayed overnight in Tune hotels we think it is a bit cramped for 5 nights, so we are a bit worried 360 EXPRESS hotel may be similar. suggestions for nice guesthouse would also be appreciated. Many thanks
Am from Singapore I taught of backpacking to kuching, sarawak alone is it safe? I can't seem to find any friends to tag along I heard that kuching is the cleanest city in Malaysia? what would roughly my budget be? is kuching more expensive then KL or JB? I read somewhere that you can use an express boat to either city. somehow doing a web search only says between Sibu - Kuching by Bahagia Express baot but nothing onto Miri. Anyone help and frquency/times? I will be in Miri in early may and would like to see Kuching.
I had identified some flights between Jakarta and Kuching a few days back. But few days ago they all vanished overnight; nothing available from Mid January 2010 onwards; under no price range., I don't see any flights in this routes for reservation even though it is still listed here: airasia.com/site/en/flightSc.... What could be the reason?
Does anyone know if a taxi could go from kuching airport to batang ai jetty to batang ai hilton? Does anyone know car with driver for hire in kuching?
Hi, a few questions here, hopefully fellow VT-ers can assist. My partner and I will arrive in Kuching in late Nov. We have drafted an itinerary as below. Arrival day - explore Kuching City Day 2 - Bako National Park Day 3 - Kubah National Park or Gunung Gading Day 4 - half day at Damai beach and the Orangbutan Sanctary and return to Kuching city DAy 5 - remain in Kuching city and catch return flight in noon My questions :- 1. Given the above itinerary, is it worth while to rent a car to drive aroung? 2. are the routes to the national parks well paved and easily navigate (with clear signage?) 3. Are there any car park charges at the National Parks? 4. We are looking at Pinnacles Kuching along Jalan Borneo (any negative remarks about the lodge or the area) 5. Do you I can fit into a longhouse tour in any of the days above? Thanks is advance
Hi Will be in Kuching for the first time from 3/11 to 5/11. Have no itinerary yet but will not venture out of town (unless the fellow VTers could suggest any). Would be grateful if anyone could help me with some questions: 1 - we will miss the satok market. Where is the best place that sell the best and cheapest ikan terubok masin? I am Malaysian (Johorean) but have been living abroad for 4 years, and every now and then yearning for the delicious fish!! I am planning to buy lots of them for my family, parents..in laws...aunts..uncles...you know the big fat malaysian families..I assume that it is OK to bring the in aircraft hold right? 2 - Penambang. How does it work? How many stops does it serves? 3 - Recommended budget hotel / hostel around town area, close to city centre, clean and functional? Thanks for all your help!! Ara

Hi, It's my first time in kuching and i'm thinking of staying at Damai beach resort. 1) Does anyone have any idea if there are any food places nearby or i will have to pretty much eat at the hotel ? Any review on the hotel? 2)Also, read from the tips there will be a shuttle from damai to town, but will it stop near the damai beach resort ? 3)I'm planning to spend a day wondering along the waterfront and to take the tram, will i be better off to stay at the city for 1 night before heading to the beach ? 4) I only have 4 days here, what should i not miss ? Many thanks !
Visiting kuching for the first time with family . As we have only a day and a half at our disposal, we were planning to allot half a day for a visit to the orangutan sanctuary and spend the rest of the time wandering about the town, taking a river cruise, perhaps visiting a museum or two. Would appreciate some comments onthe most effective way to visit the orangutan sanctuary on a value-for-money basis. Also, any tips on interesting pubs/bars by the waterfront to have a beer and pizza would also be most welcome.
hi need help with the above information. they need not necessarily be high profile outlets but places which are patronised by the locals, malaysian, indian and chinese food outlets, including seafood restaurants could be included in this selection. we are aware that such a choice is subjective but personal opinions are solicited. regards musaphir
Hi. How easy is it to get to Serikin and Duyoh markets using public transport, or would it be better to hire a car to travel around the area a bit? Are there other similar market in Sarawak as we will be travelling overland from Kuching to Miri, then to Mulu Caves National Park?
