Hi, Me & my wife will be transitting in & out of KL next month. Any suggestions on how we should plan the time. Land at LCCT at 8PM & Fly out of KLIA next day at 6.30pm. Our broad plan : Take Taxi from LCCT to KLCC, check in around 10PM (hotel suggestions? Close to KLCC :50-$75 for the night) Check out some Pubs/ Night spots, close to hotel. Suggestions? Till what time will they be open? Next morning go to Petronas Tower/ Suria Mall. Best way to travel from KLCC to KLIA (Time taken? Cost? If our flight is at 6.30PM, what time should we leave from KLCC? Thanks in advance for the help. Tj
If your plane lands on schedule, you'll have to add at least one hour for baggage claim and immigration (if you are a foreigner), then at least another hour once you get on the Skybus or taxi (longer if the former coz you'll need to take a taxi from KL Sentral) to KLCC! KL night life can go on till the wee hours of the morning. You didn't say what day you are flying out, on a weekend, I would start out at least three hours before my flight. On a weekday, in view of KL's infamous traffic jams, maybe earlier though you might not encounter any at 3.30pm, you never know in KL! As for hotel, I'd suggest Chorus Hotel which is close enough to KLCC.

Btw you didn't say where you are flying in from/out to? If it's a long haul flight, I'd rather suggest you check into Tune Hotel at the LCCT for a restful night and take the Skybus to see a bit of KL the next day if you can leave your luggage there. Or stay at the Pan Pacific at KLIA and take the nice ERL ride into KL the next day and from KL Sentral take the LRT to KLCC.

I recommend you check into the Melia Hotel, very central as opposite the Times Square Building and 50 metres from the Skytrain which will move you around the city very quickly. 10 minute walk to the upmarket shopping precinct Bukit Bintang. photos on my page.

Good idea, Tune Hotel but a bit far to go for the nightlife. I would head for Bukit Bintang, many pubs, restaurants and hotels. Bus to KLCC would be cheaper, around 9 ringit and takes an hour. Don't forget that Petronas Towers is closed for tours on Mondays, and you must get there and join the queue before 7.30 IMO to get a ticket as it is very popular and usually there are too many people. Once you reach the head of the queue you will be given a time slot for your tour, let's hope you will find a suitable time slot. You can book this through an agency who will get tickets for you plus a 25% charge i believe. For me, we got to the Towers at 7 am, waited in the line for 3 hours but it was obvious that we would not make our flight so we left without the tour. I always recommend a trip to the Hindu Temple Complex at Batu Caves.

The Aerobus costs RM8 per person from LCCT (a taxi will be around RM80) to Sentral (50minutes). Easily walkable from there is MY Sentral Hotel - a double room is RM108. There are some good eating places close by and the train station is handy to get you to any place in the city in the morning. The hotel would be happy to look after your bags until you collected them in the afternoon. I don't think the bus goes to KLIA, only LCCT but the express train (RM35)leaves Sentral every 15 minutes and takes half an hour. You could leave KL city at 3pm and get to the terminal in plenty of time for your flight.

Shuttle bus operates from LCCT-KLIA route. Many LCCT/airlines staff use the shuttle bus.

@davidjo - Suggest you reread my second reply? It actually suggested a good night's rest instead of the night life if the OP had flown long haul. Or you don't understand my England? ;-)

Good infor @syasya! I witnessed a French man pay RM42+ for a budget taxi from KLIA to the LCCT! I did try to intervene by asking the taxi counter staff: isn't there a shuttle bus (which I've never taken) and she said: No! Can you believe that? I managed to confirm with the security guard outside the arrival hall that there is, indeed! But when I commented to my airport cab driver later, on the ride home, he said the bus is sometimes late and the taxi's worth it if one has a tight connection - I wonder how true this is??

If my memory serves me right, the shuttle bus between the terminals is about RM3.40 per person (used it in January 2012).

Not within the time frame available to the OP, imho. > Next morning go to Petronas Tower/ Suria Mall. @OP - you don't need any tickets for this, unless you want to go up to the Skybridge. For a better aerial view of KL, my German-speaking tour guide friend actually recommends KL Tower! > Best way to travel from KLCC to KLIA Best (but not cheapest) is, of course, a taxi! ;-) Given your short time in KL, I would suggest this (I always take a taxi to the airport when I have checked baggage)! But if you are flying MH, you can check in for your flight at KL Sentral - you need to do so at least 2 hours in advance to ensure your baggage gets transfered, and then take the ERL to KLIA!

Thanks, Boris, for the info! FYI I was stunned when I heard the taxi fare was RM43+ for such a short trip! My taxi ride to Taman Desa cost less than twice that! Cut throats!

But the poor French man (no 'parle Anglais'!) just shrugged if off: it's only 10 Euros, he said!

Hi sheherezad, I use shuttle bus to pick my car near Pusrawi, LCCT. I parked there. Cheaper than use taxi for short holiday.

@sheherazad, Yes i understand your 'England' as you say perfectly well, i was just pointing out that it's not a bad idea to stay at Tune Hotel because it is near to the airport, but on the other hand, should our friend still like to enjoy the night life instead of relaxing , it is a little far from town. But of course if he is to enjoy the nightlife, he would be back to the hotel late and have to rise early for the Towers! But of course he can stay at Tune, forget the night life, leave his bags there next morning and head out early for the Towers and collect his bags before flying out.

@davidjo I would certainly not recommend the OP stays at Tune if he wants to (still) enjoy the KL nightlife! ;-) For that, he certainly should stay the night in KL itself, imho. Cheers!
