Hi We were in Malaysia last year (mid October) - its monsoon season, so Oct is a very wet, hot and humid time.

Hi, Malaysia can be visited all year long. The weather is very hard to predict nowaday. East coast of Malaysian is the start of moonsoon season, so is not advisable to travel to islands in the east coast. However you can still visit other places or activities. Penang, Langkawi, Gopeng or Jelebu for adventure, Sight seeing in Kuala Lumpur is good to go. Welcome Joining VT and Welcome to Malaysia. From October to April, the monsoon bring a lot of water to the East Coast, you still able to travel to West Coast's interesting places such as KL, Malacca, Penang Island, Langkawi Island, Pangkor island, Cameron Highlands and fly to Borneo for Sabah and Sarawak.

I have been to Malaysia many times since 1983 and cannot remember a visit without a certain amount of rain. If i remember correctly there would probably be a lot of rain at that time of year, but it would be unlikely to rain all day long. Expect showers in the afternoon. Cambodia, i'm afraid would still be towards the end of the typhoon season, (October is the wettest month with an average of 2.5m rainfall),so expect to see rain nearly every day. So, in a nutshell, you are going to get wet, so pack suitable clothing.

I have been many times to Malaysia and i am writing this from a roadside coffeshop on my way by bicycle through Malaysia. I find there is always some rain in Malaysia, but i also find that it comes in short heavy downpours and it's rare that it rains the entire day. Late afternoon usually sees some heavy showers in the rainy season. This would never scare me from visiting though as it's a country with good facilities and i just pop indoor when the sky opens and then you wait for a bit and it's fine again.
