Hi, you have to count that driving ca 6 hours, of course depending on the traffic. Keep in mind that some part of road is across a moutain area, there are a lot of bends which slow down the ride.
In my opinion a visit in The Park takes all day round but one day is sufficient to see its chief highlights. So if you don't want to drive at night the overnight is an option.
    Have a nice time

I would definitely recommend you to stay overnight. It takes a day to visit the highlights and that I thought last year too, but then, being in the park, we discovered the beauty that we could not have imagined-Visovac island and monastery, Ogrlice, Burnum Roman military camp, river Krka canion and many more. Hope this helps,
    Ivana

Yeah, it's definitely worth staying couple of days and thoroughly explore NP beyond ordinary waterfalls and swimming sections of Skradinski buk that most tourists do for their couple of hours visit to Krka. It's lot more than that, just like Ivana nicely explained earlier.
There is concise information from staff, with good maps of the area in the main offcie of National Park at Skradin. Here you can also buy tickets, book the boat or just go and ask things. It's important to know what you want to do in the area, there are many options. This is nice and little quiet town to stay in, but on other hand if you travel by car then it's not far from Sibenik as well.

The distance is 280km by Jadranska magistrala, very scenic and all along sea-shore. No mountains there but you cannot drive fast and its not advisable. Theoretically you can make it in 4-5 hours but you will probably like to stop more times and take some pics of nice places on your road. Krka is beautiful NP, enjoy and do not miss bouat-trip to small islet of Visovac.
