Is bus transport regular and reliable around then as we would like to be able to visit different sights from here and if at all possible cross the boarder into Austria seeing it is so close. Hi. I am looking at going skiing to KRANJSKA GORA at the start of March. My main question is about the skiing equipment hire and lift passes - am I better to buy this from the tour operator prior to travel or can I get a better deal when I'm there. It seems to be just under £200 for lift pass, ski and boot hire which I think is a bit pricy. Does anyone know prices locally? Also, the accommodation I'm looking at is the Hotel Alpina - any comments? (Good or bad). And - what kind of conditions can I expect the first week or March. One more thing - I am travelling alone - will it be safe enough! Thanks in advance for any advice given. Suz
Hi ! Next saturday (17/02) will see a crowd of us en route to KJ staying at the Hotel Alpina & have a number of questions if anyone can help: 1. Whats the hotel like in terms of accommodation and food? 2. Although we know its a ski in / ski out hotel, which run is it adjacent to ? 3. Prices of beer, vodka and wine, both in the Hotel and local bars ? 4. Talking of bars, can you recommend any ? 5. Are there any restaurants on the mountain or do we have to come down for refs ? Think thats about it, but if missed something obvious then please chip in !!! Many thanks Tony & Lee
Hello I shall be arriving around 16.40pm mid week do you know where I find out about bus times or howmuch a taxi might cost?
Does anyone have an opinion of HI Hostel Nika? I found a double for 38 Euro... cheap, but is it "too cheap"?
Hi my husband and I are going to Kranjska Gora tomorrow for a week - just booked it at very short notice. We got a good deal half board at the Hotel Milka. Just wondered if anybody knows anything about this hotel as it never seems to be mentioned in reviews. Is that because it is terrible or because it is a bit out of town. We are taking walking boots and hope to do a bit of that, bit of cycling and a bit of swimming in the lake and generally exploring and sight-seeing. We won't have a car. Any suggestions/recommendations gratefully received. Thanks
Hi I went to Slovenia in the summer and thought it was a fantastic place and learned about the skiing they have there. It seemed like a good place for beginners and intermediates, so I've booked some flights to Ljubljana in February for about 5 days (through Easyjet). Now I need to find a hotel. I've enquired about the Hotel Lek and the Hotel Kompas. But my question is really about how available these hotels are in Kranjska Gora? Are they all booked mainly through tour operators or can I simply book one myself? Would be very interested in any other advice about the area and on the skiing format/protocol. Also, how can I get from Ljubljana to Kranjska Gora? Many thanks in advance... Donny
Hi, can anyone advise me on which currency to take with me? Are Euros widely accepted or do I have to take Slovenian Tolars?
We are staying at the Hotel Alpina in kranjska gora in January and would like to know if anyone can give me some information on it i.e. what the rooms are like, entertainment, friendliness of staff, food etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have read quite a lot of the information about Slovenia but what seems to be missing is actual costs for everyday items like hiring mountain bikes, chair lift costs, public transport costs and last but not least how much is a pint of beer ? Also, are there many chair lifts to get up to the higher level walking routes ? Are the paths clearly marked for walkers ? Are there any restrictions for photography ? Sorry for all the questions but I need a little more information before I decide to buy the Lonely Planet guide ! Thanks, Mark
hello there, my name is monica, i was wondering if you could help.my husband and i will be spending new year's eve and night in klagenfurt.so excited!! we will be flying from the UK. after that we have 4 full days to spend. my question is : shall we stay in klagenfurt or villach?or shall we just go to kranjska gora in slovenia? one thing to consider is ' my snow dose' as my husband put it :-D, i am romanian myself and we have snow every winter in transilvania but unfortunately not in southern england :-( so snow and sledging should put that silly happy grin on my face. what do you think? can i just say what a lovely and useful website this is and thank in advance to those who would be kind enough to reply. best wishes, monica.
Hey people, I'm planning a trip with three mates of mine to Kranjska Gora to explore local slopes. But I was slightly concerned about the apre-ski activities there, and whether it is the place to party and ski or only ski. thank you very much in advace
Hi, guys and girls I am going to Kranjska Gora in April and can't decide which place to stay. I have narrowed it down to either Hotel Alpina or Pension Tripic. I realise that I am not comparing like with like but, has anyone actually stayed in either of these establishments? Are they nice or are they a bit tatty? My wife and i travel a lot in Slovakia and Poland and have stayed in some "right rat holes" in years gone by, and I do not want to make a mistake here if I can avoid it. Any previous guests comments would be welcome. Thanks

A group of four of us are thinking of staying in Kranjska Gora for walking in September - probably 6th to 13th. Someone has suggested that everything closes down at the end of August. Does anyone know if there are chairlifts & buses in September? Or are there walks from the town centre? We prefer to get up into the mountains, but a lift part of the way would help!! Thanks!
