Travelling to Krakow 23 - 26 August 2012

by anniebannie1981 Online Now Jul 19, 2012 at 2:10 PM

We are travelling and staying in Hotel Wyspianski, Westerplatter for three nights. Wondering if you would recommend for us to get a travel card for trams and buses or is it as easy to walk to places and sights?

Hello I was there last spring and I also stayed in the city centre. Krakow is a small city, and easy to explore on foot and that was what I did. *Nico*

your hotel is at a central location. unless you get exhausted quickly when walking you will not need trams and busses from there - you can easily explore the old town on foot, and while you could go to Kazimierz or Podgorze by tram, it is all within walking distance. Of course, should you be travelling in winter or it is raining, you might be more than happy to use public transport - but in that case it is probably more convenient to buy a ticket at the next kiosk

I agree with the above. I have visited Krakow twice and only used public transport when I wanted to go well outside the centre. It is a very walkable place indeed. But if you do get tired you can easily just buy a ticket and hop onto a tram or bus. So no, I would say don't bother with a travel card (unless you have mobility difficulties).

You really shouldn't need it, Krakow is quite small and easy to walk. As others have said, unless you have mobility problems, everything is pretty much within walking distance of your hotel

You are in a very central location. We found the city easy to explore on foot and only used public transport when we needed to go away from the city centre. It is a wonderful place to wander around - there is such a lovely feel to this city. Enjoy!!
