Fastest way is probably to fly, although there are no direct flights from Krakow airport. Lot has a flight via Warsaw which takes 2h 50m. www.skyscanner.net will give you all carriers and fares. Book on the airline's own website.

    There are buses run by:

    http://www.intercars.pl/

    http://www.almabus.pl/intro.html

    and

    http://www.regabus.cz/cs

Journey time is around 10 hours.

You can find train times and details in English on

    bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/...

or the official Polish railway website:

    rozklad.pkp.pl/bin/query.exe...

Use 'Praha' for Prague. You will have to make at least one change unless you take the overnight train. Journey time is from 8 hours or so.

'Best' depends on your personal budget and how much time you are happy to spend on the journey. Flying is fastest but, obviously, the most expensive.

Most comfortable way is definitely by train, especially since Czech rail company (http://www.cd.cz/eshop/) recently started to sell tickets for the direct trains online

Hi. we were going to take the train but it was at night and we were in morning and it was going in the hour so we took the bus. It was half the price of the train, it was fun, only about 15 people on the whole bus and we stopped for lunch and stuff and ran into the same people all over prague again and again it was funny. We watched the movie "Cliffhanger" in polish but the english was still there to be heard so we still enjoy that memory when we see that movie come up on TV. It was a pretty nice bus ride for really cheap and I would do it again.

A direct sleeper train leaves Krakow main station in the city centre every night at 22:01 and arrives Prague Hlavni 07:36, a short stroll from Prague's old town and most hotels.

In the other direction, it leaves Prague Hlavni at 22:29 arriving Krakow at 06:43.

This is city centre to city centre, and saves a hotel bill too. Zero check-in, no airport security nonsense, compared to flying it's painless and convenient.

It has a safe and cosy sleeping-car with 1, 2 & 3 bed compartments with carpet and washbasin, a couchette car with 4 and 6 bunk compartments with rugs and pillows, and seats.

Book journeys starting in Krakow via reliable ticketing agency www.polrail.com, as PKP (Polish Railways) have not enabled online booking. It costs 432 zlotys with a bed in a 2-bed sleeper.

But if your journey starts in Prague, you can book a Prague to Krakow sleeper from just €40 in a 2-bed at www.cd.cz/eshop (it's cheaper, for some reason, at the Czech end!)
