      Climbing Ropes

by BrianF31 Online Now May 7, 2013 at 3:49 PM

A friend and I will be travelling throughout southeast Asia this summer. He and I are both climbers and plan on spending about a week or so climbing in the Krabi area. It would be impossible for us to go to Thialand and not climb, however he and I dont want to carry a rope around for seven weeks. Is there anywhere that will rent ropes in Krabi? I know about the guided climbing and that it is relatively cheap , but that hurts my pride a little. I would rather be independent and have the option to multipitch. Also is it common to find people climbing in Krabi with a rope looking for a belay partner?

    • Comparison between Phuket and Krabi

by manoftileSK Online Now Mar 25, 2013 at 5:53 AM

My wife and I just came back from a tour of Phuket (1 night ) and Phi Phi (2 nights). Both of us really enjoyed thoroughly the stay in Phi Phi (with its beautiful islands). We vow to come again to Phi Phi, and perhaps this time enter PP via Krabi.
Well , I have just seen Phuket, particularly Patong area, with many of its shops, bars, and eating places, plenty.
Can someone please advise me what can I expect from tour of Krabi ( while I will tour Phi Phi from thereon). I presume that Krabi will be a quieter place?
      Thanks .

      General Advice Please

by trevndebs Online Now Jan 12, 2013 at 5:53 AM

Hello, We are looking at going to stay at Krabi La Playa Resort, hopefully for Songkran this year. Can anyone give advice on how long the transfer from Krabi airport takes. I take it we fly from the UK into BKK and transfer to an internal flight to Krabi? We have been to Koh Samui, Pattaya & Phuket, and assume that Krabi would be quieter than those resorts but still able to get tailors and shopping etc. Many thanks,

Sharing a hong island + sunset 4 island private tour?

by LHui Online Now Jan 8, 2013 at 11:04 PM

I will be in Krabi 23 Jan-28 Jan and interested in engaging a private tour, problem is prices will be steep since there's only 2 of us. Thinking of doing Hong islands in the morning and 4 islands later in the evening to avoid crowds and get a glimpse of the sunset at sea, rather than the conventional half-day 4 islands tour and half-day hong island tour. If anyone is interested in sharing the tour/ or have other recommendations, do drop a reply! Thanks!

      Transport to railay bay princess

by hillelarkin Online Now Dec 4, 2012 at 9:58 AM

This is a continuation of my post regarding transport from Krabi to RAILAY BAY. Thanks to all people that responded regarding transport options to railay bay. I am though a little bit confused with the resort and the beaches. We will arrive from Koeh Sok and had made reservation with RAILAY BAY PRINCESS... Now I still do not know if it Is Railay Beach East or west or if "Sand and Sun" and if there is an access with a car to RAILAY PRINCESS RESORT. Thanks to every one that will help to resolve this confision..

Are there plenty of places to stay around the ferry terminal or any suggestion where to stay and enjoy a more quiet night in Krabi. along the water would be good, I do not know Krabi as i have never been to southern thailand. thanks! transport to Railay Bay Resort

by hillelarkin Online Now Nov 30, 2012 at 12:09 AM

I am planning my trip to South Thailand. My present plan is to fly to Phuket and stay ther 2 nights, Then to go for 2 nights to Khao Sok Reservation and finally, to spend 2 nights ar Railay Bay Resort. I read on various websites that the only way to arrive to Railay Bay resort is by long-tail boats. However, checking GOOGLE MAP it looks like one does can arrive there with a car. I would like to know what is the status now as this will affect our decision: If we can arrive to the resort with a car, we will rent one in Phuket and keep it with us (dropping off in Phuket or Krabi, depending on the flight back). Otherwise, we will probably use public transportation (minivan or so). Thanks for updated information

    • Ao Nang hotel?

by greengoblin Online Now Nov 18, 2012 at 7:10 AM

Ok... I have more or less rounded off on the below hotels for stay. Please suggest me the one which can give me the best bang for the buck. Small hotel Buri_Tara_Resort Vogue Resort & Spa The Cliff Ao Nang Resort Mercure Krabi Deevana Criteria: 1. Price of any room(Delux/Superior/Standard or whatever) shouldn't exceed INR 5000. That is 2800 thai baht or US90. I sort of strung on a budget:( 2. Since the resorts are not right on the beach, I am hoping to get that 'luxury' bit through a private bath tub or Jacuzzi. 3. Probably the regular travellers could chip in with their experiences which could allow me to strike off based on some unsavory factors. 4. I think all of these resorts are only 5 min walk from the beach. Or am I wrong about any of them. Would like all your opinions to help me make my honeymoon stay a special one... of whhatever I could squeeze from! Cheers, GG

I will be travelling with my 70 year old mom on a cruise that is docking for a day in Krabi on 2 Oct 2012. As the ship will be docking at Phrawat, I need to know: how far is it to Wat Tham Sua. I would like to do a Thai Market tour (Talad Gao) - any recommendations for a day visit preferably. Is there a Central deparmental store in Krabi? Please advise the location. I appreciate if someone can advise on: exact location of a Thai noodle(Khanom Jeen) soup stand, on the corner of Soi 6 and Krabi’s main street. Any idea on operation hours/day? Landmarks would be appreciated. Pakarang Seafood Restaurant @ Aonang Beach. Is it worth a try? location of Klai Wang Water Garden (catfish farm). Is this food outlet in operation as I read if of the 2005 version of Flyer magazine. I would appreciate if one can advise cost of hire of tuk tuk for a tour around Krabi and any other sight-see recommendations that does not involve island hopping or swimming or jungle trekking.
